I'm looking for some new safety glasses that achieve three things.

1) Not "dark" glasses. I usually shoot with clear lenses, although interchangeable lenses would be great for really bright days.

2) flat, or "wire" ear pieces so there is a minimum of "leakage" of sound energy into my ear pro. My ears have gotten hypersensitive and I've got good muffs that work, but thick earpieces defeat this, especially when shooting close to hard cover at matches, due to reflected energy. I realize plugs would mitigate this, but I need to stick with regular muff style ear pro.

3) possibly adjustable, or at least big enough to fit large noggins. I wear a 7 3/4 hat size. When buying regular eyeglasses I have to have long ear pieces because of my punkin' head.

1. Pumpkins don't wear ear pro, they don't have ears.
2. If your head is really that big it's because of you deserting us for that "other place".
3. If you need the long temple pieces that would explain why you can't hear anything you say, the distance is too great.
4. Have you asked this in the hearing forum at the "other place"??
5. :):):):)

I know you have some advice for me that is actually useful, so let's hear it. Feel free to include any other commentary. I have my big boy pants on.

Fieldgrade,

They are expensive, but they will be the only pair you ever need for pistol, rifle (with optics), or shotgun. Decot Hi-Wyd with Hy-Lo option are great. Optically they are better than most, and the lens colors available and Rx options are incredible. They also offer polarized and even trifocals (not that you need them). Their three lens sets can be customized in terms of color, and they offer both wrap around and straight temple pieces (both wire).

You only need the hy-Lo option for rifles with optics as they allow you to raise the glasses higher on your face for optics use.

If you call them, their customer service is second to none, but you do pay for it. That said, I have been using my set for 10 years now and only replace lenses when I scratch them and the lenses are reasonable. Since the styles don't change, the lenses are always available.

Just my two, no, three cents

Good to hear from you Charlie. Long time no see. I will check these out.

Good to hear from you also. Still trying to Chase over to your part of the state, but he isn't cooperating academically.

Do check, you can call and customize them exactly how you want them. The prices turn people off, but for serviceability and the fact that they ended my 100+ dollar year run of Oakleys, its worth it.

They also don't fog.

If it were me, and it has been, I go to Wayne Morgan at Morgan Optical (www.morganoptical.net 716-379-8773) He handles all brands of shooting glasses and is a great guy to work with. As @Charlie R said, be prepared to drop some coin but it's a lifetime investment....
PS: Zip your barn door.....

I really wish I could help here. I generally just buy the cheapest I can find on Amazon because if I had a super power it would be for leaving glasses behind places. I go through shooting glasses and sun glasses as fast as most people go through the milk in their refrigerator.

I was remembering that we actually talked about those folks before. Thanks.

I wear and prefer Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ with there prism lenses. Works great in bright sun and overcast.

I would suggest Hunters HD Gold. They have Aviators with wire frames that look really nice. They are really nice glasses and you can get them in prescription too. Next pair of glasses I get will be a pair of Hunters HD Gold.

I also suggest Hunters HD Gold glasses. They are hands down the best glasses I have every used. They have super clear lenses and they adjust with the lighting condition
