I have a couple Boyd adjustable stocks on a 308 and 6.5 CM and would like to try a bipod. The only mounting point is the forward swivel stud. Does anybody make a bipod that is worth having that is a stud mount?

You are probably aware, but here is a Harris adapter for mounting to a sling stud, but I have no experience with it, and I don't see many people using them since pic rail adapters have become so common. Harris makes a great bipod, but I am not sure about how steady a stud mount would be. To me it would be like mounting a pic rail with a single screw.

I added a pic rail to my HS Precision stock with no problems at all. videos on line make it easy.

I use a Harris model through the swivel stud on my 6.5G CZ. Works fine for what I do at the range. I added an upgraded lever so it is easier to tighten down. There was thread somewhere in here about good Harris modifications. Think the lever and some different feet were discussed.

Harris mounted on a stud was the standard for years and years. Fancier stuff coming along did not change the fact that it still works....

Atlas makes a pic rail that attaches using a stud. Model BT17, runs about $20.

Weaver and Blackhawk make cheaper versions as well.

This will allow you to run any rail mounted bipod you wish. I have used the Atlas in the past and just used it again to mount a new Magpul bipod to the stock on my Savage 110. Works like a champ.

I’ve got the pic rail adapter from Caldwell. Works great. $17 on Amazon.
