I have a stevens shotgun made sometime between 1933 and 1945 that I'm trying to give new life to. The stock looked pretty nasty but the wood underneath is in fine shape. The metal is not in bad shape, except for the trigger. It has some rust around front edge where the finger would contact it. It's not or ever has been blued. Any idea of what kind of medal it is and if it can be blued

You can blue stainless steel. Brownells offers a chemical bluing compound called Oxynate 84 but this is a gunsmith hot tank solution it is not a cold blue.

If its a stevens and it was made in the 30s, it ain't stainless steel. The trigger is likely plain carbon steel, may have been blued or case colored and the finish has faded away in 80+ years.
