@BatteryOaksBilly do you mean a guard that extends to the top like this? (This is what I think you mean)
Or do you mean something like this, which I think is called a sub-hilt?

Yes Sir, the top knife. Every Randall I have...about 15 or so..were All ordered with Double Hilts. Some Brass, some Nickel Silver, some Lugged, some Curved, but always double Hilts. This knife the maker showed could easily live here with a double hilt.
Just a personal preference. My favorite Randall is one of my 4 or 5 inch #5s ordered with double hilts. It completely changes the knife. It looks like a slightly smaller #1 fighter.
