I've accidentally mixed up some of my brass with polycase (looks like brass due to coating, but is not). I was wondering if there was a good way to tell them apart? I'm not a reloader (yet). I'd been saving the brass to trade/sell. I went to the trouble to sort it by hand (9, 45, 38). Realized later that I had been picking up the polycase after shooting thinking it was brass. Dohh...

Any advice would be appreciated. Several hundred of each, so not a huge amount, but still I've went to the trouble of picking it up and sorting it, so I'm trying to avoid throwing it all out if I can help it.

Thanks.

Are you sure the cases aren’t brass? From what I could tell by a quick google search, the projectiles are injection molded, but there is no mention of the cases being anything special.

I have no experience with "Polycase" but brass is heavy, polymer is light, and scales are cheap (and if you don't already have one, you need one anyhow).

When you say polycase, im assuming you were shooting some ARX type stuff?

It was a round that American Patriot ammo (great guy/great Vet owned company) was loading for a short period of time. My understanding was the case was polymer. Probably need to hit the guys up at the gun club or just buy a scale. Hate that he doesn't load it anymore. Was almost as cheap as steel and much cleaner and reliable and I never felt guilty for not picking up spent cases (LOL).
