Anyone doing BJJ?
Its something I think I would like to get into...we did some self defense training at work today and it was loosely based on BJJ...had more fun grappling than I thought I would.
Did a bit of research and seems there are some options that could work.
The biggest thing for me is going to be some place that has flexible schedules.

Logos BJJ- Cary
Spangler BJJ- Apex
Open Guard- Apex
Forged Fitness-Cary
Gracie in Durham and Raleigh

Are some of the places I found and will look into, I'm leaning towards Logos simply because their schedule seems to be the most convenient that I could work with and it's one of the closer ones.
I think I'd rather attend some place that is not a mixed shop and only focuses on one style.

Seems that the average cost is around $100+/- /month.

@NCMedic Just saw this post. Did you ever find a gym to train at? I trained BJJ for 3 years at Pendergrass Academy in Wake Forest and right now I’m looking to train somewhere a little closer to Raleigh.

There is also a Gracie affiliated place in Chapel Hill. Up by 40.

Got any belts yet? Tell us newbs more about it.

I started out training under Gracie system in 1995 at Raleigh Institute of Martial Arts under Jason Culbreth who then went on to form Forged Fitness in Raleigh and then in Cary. ( very good group of guys) Any location affiliated with team ROC (Reality of Combat) are good and most are Gracie affiliate schools. The Gracie belt system is unique in that it takes significant work to achieve belt levels. White, Blue, Purple, Brown, Black.

I received my Blue Belt directly from Royce Gracie during a seminar in Fayetteville NC it was a very cool experience for sure.

I've mixed my BJJ with Krav-Maga from TKM in Durham (South Point area) so I just have a well rounded approach. The best thing about TKM is that they offer so many specialty courses, firearms, weapon retention, knife defense, survival courses, active shooter response etc. No contracts, just pay the fee and attend.

This is a BJJ location that a lot of guys in the area are gravitating too.

TFTC it's in south part of Cary, pretty close to US1.

I’m right smack in the middle of the blue belt blues. Not training right now so I am the “quit at blue belt” stereotype currently.

Placed 3rd(of 3 lol) in my weight class(162) at the US Grappling submission only competition last summer. But I got out and competed against some tough blue belts that were way stronger and younger than me and I almost won several matches.

BJJ is hard. You learn a lot in the first year.

The biggest thing for me is going to be finding a place that works with my schedule. I need to go and check out a couple of them.
