I placed an order with Brownells last week, which included an aftermarket handguard I was really excited to install and try out this Saturday. Everything was in stock. Everything shipped at the same time on Monday. I received most of my items via FedEx today, but the handguard was a no-show. I checked my tracking info, and for some reason Brownells shipped it in a different box, via FedEx SmartPost. Ohhh brother, not this again! SmartPost is seriously the worst!

The handguard is queued in Charlotte as I type this, and tracking info has not updated all day. It is scheduled to be delivered Saturday, and USPS tends to deliver very late in the day. Our carrier is ... not great. She misdelivers frequently, and has even driven her personal car to my house after dark, dressed in her regular clothes, to deliver a package. I can only guess as to why. Also, the majority of past SmartPost packages have arrived far later than estimated. So, this impatient gun enthusiast will probably have to wait a few more weeks to try out his new gear. again.

Anyone buy a lot from Brownells? Is this standard practice to split up a single order, ship out on the same day, but ship via two different methods? I did buy some Hoppe's, so I understand the hazmat requirements. But why not just ship it all in one box?

Okay. Rant over.

They are sometimes slow. I have found that these days it is not that Brownells is slow shipping something it is the carrier of choice for their "free shipping offers" that cause delays. They maybe drop shipping things these days more so than they did in the past. I order from Brownells all the time but it is almost never something I need in my hands right now. It is stuff that can arrive when it arrives. Half the time it shows up and I have forgotten I ordered it. If you want better shipping pay the upgrade to another shipping option.

“Free Shipping” can take up to a week.

That is from virtually any vendor.

I had a similar experience from “Rock your Glock”. It stayed in one location for 5 days.

I’m impatient. I pay for USPS Priority. First class is also known in my book as “Second Rate”.

I have bought from Brownells without issues and I usually get stuff in 2-3 days. Midway, Outdoor Limited, Cajun Gunworks, and Glock store have all been positive for me.

FedEx SmartPost is the worst. Ordered a Polymer80 from Brownells. Took 13-days to get here. It was in Concord less about 20-miles away from me but did not leave there for deliver to me for 6-days after it arrived.

So far, Brownells has not split up my orders but MidwayUSA has.

Never had any problems, the free shipping can take longer. If you havent received your order in 10 days.....call them.

In Stock doesn't necessarily mean in their warehouse.

Could be they have some items shipped directly from their source. The manufacturer or the wholesaler.

Way back in the last century when I was a kid I would buy mail order stuff.
I'd save up my nickles & dimes , fill out the order form , & send it off.....then I would wait......and wait.....and wait..... I would check the mailbox every day for years.....and years.....and years. Tracking packages ? was totally unheard of , no number to even call.
Finally , years later , a tired lame old mule pulling a rickety old cart would stop at the mailbox.......

Ordering stuff on these here interwebs is lightening fast even if it takes a week or ten days.

They ship from multiple locations now including a NC location. Free shipping is the slowest of course. Wish i could afford next day air on everything i buy. Even Brownells Edge and otherwise 2 day shipping is after it leaves their shipping point and sometimes that can take a couple days.

Amazon has changed everyone's expectations of acceptable delivery times. Brownells also has the lifetime warranty if you're not happy. That makes it worth the wait. I've felt guilt free sending items back a year+ old that I never ended up using.

Yep, their warranty/return policy is the BEST. Ive sent tools and gauges i bought a year plus back that i never used, no ?'s asked and full refund. Pete Brownell is running for re-election to NRA BOD. just got my a ballot.

I purchased ammo from them last year that was on sale with free shipping. When it arrived, it had invoice that I was charged for shipping. Sent email and they reversed the shipping charge.
