Buccaneer Gun Club IDPA

Unfortunately, I have an event for Saturday that will prevent me from going. Have fun with the CFF road gang!

The IDPA match at Buccaneer Gun Club scheduled for 10AM on January 6th has been postponed until 10AM on January 20th.

Match announcement from Lon:

OK, we are going to try something a little different for next scheduled match on Saturday, February 3rd, and it will be an IDPA like B.U.G (backup gun) match. This will be not so much a formal match but a chance for you to stress test your equipment and maybe yourself. You can shoot any gun that you carry on a day to day basis (If you carry a full size 1911, fine) and you will draw based on the way you carry. Appendix carry, in the waste band holsters, cross draw (we'll accommodate you) and you can even draw from a purse or man purse if that's how you pack.

We are planning on six, 10 round scenario stages and all stages will start you with five rounds in your gun and you will have to do at least one reload on the clock (another five round magazine). All stages will be unlimited. Concealment will be required and we want to to dress just as you would when you are ordinarily carrying a concealed weapon.

As always, eye and ear protection is required for everyone including spectators.

Again, this is a chance to test your carry equipment and put a little pressure on yourself because of a required reload.

The cost for the match is $10 if you sign up online at www.idpamatchsignup.com before midnight on Friday, February 2nd and $15 after that time or at the match. Please be at Buccaneer Gun Club at 0930 to check in on the 3rd.

The Buccaneer Gun Club IDPA match for Saturday, March 3, 2017 will start at our usual time of 10AM. The cost for the match is $15 if you sign up online prior to midnight on March 2nd and $20 after that time or at the match. If you sign up online you will receive email notification as soon as the scores are complete (Usually within a couple of hours after the match is completed) and you will receive a text to your cell phone with scores if your phone supports texting. Also, signing up online saves us time in scoring and allows us to print your score sheet ahead of time. If you don't sign up online you will be scored as Not For Competition. Please be at the range by 9:30AM to check in. BGC is a cold range (YOU MAY NOT HAVE A LOADED FIREARM UNTIL DIRECTED TO LOAD BY A SAFETY OFFICER WHEN YOU ARE ON THE FIRING LINE) and eye and ear protection is required for everyone including spectators. Please bag and unbag your firearms in one of our four designated safe areas. They are clearly marked as such and if you are unsure, just ask one of the match personnel to direct you to one. We are planning on SIX challenging, high round count stages so plan on needing around 100 rounds for the match. A concealment garment (vest, jacket etc.) is REQUIRED for this match. Please observe the 13MPH speed limit when entering and leaving the club. The link for signing up for the match follows:

Buccaneer is running the long classifier match Saturday if you need to get classified:

Buccaneer Gun Club will host a classifier for the new 72 round IDPA classifier this next Saturday, March 17th, at 10AM. You MUST be an IDPA member to shoot this classifier. If you are not a member and want to join then go to www.idpa.com and sign up. Concealment is optional and eye and ear protection is required for everyone including spectators. The classifier course of fire is available here: http://members.idpa.com/Stages/Details/39 You must bag and unbag your firearm in one of our four safe areas. If you are not certain about the safe areas then ask one of the Safety Officers for help. Buccaneer Gun Club IDPA is a cold range meaning you may not have a loaded firearm until you are on the firing line and instructed to "Load and Make Ready" by a Safety Officer. Please drive no faster than 13mph while entering and leaving the club. Sign up for the classifier here: http://www.idpamatchsignup.com?matchid=D0BB4811-C39F-4829-859F-02D7816FB6EB

Judging from the Intellicast "future" radar view it looks like we might actually be able to shoot a match without getting wet this morning.

Hopefully. One thing I’ve learned, never trust the future radar.

Fortunately, the patron saint of match directors rode down with me, so it never rained despite what the forecast said.

Well I signed up but haven't been approved yet, not sure what that means or what team I'll be on

Where are we eatin?:D
I took the missus for a scenic truck tour of Buccaneer Gun Club on Saturday. There was a "Women on Target" event going on. Lots of lady shooters.
Then we stopped at Cape Fear Seafood at high noon in Leland. They get really great reviews on Yelp, but there were only three cars in the lot so we kept going.

First thing you see in the video is Ray's truck on the move, lol. We passed him Saturday at the range. He stays busy.
"Assault Life".

I didn't see much shade around the place where they shoot the IDPA matches. I'm starting to see why some guys use the little carts for carrying things,,range bag, cooler, umbrella etc

My status for this month's shoot is not yet determined. The NC State Sporting Clays shoot is this weekend, but I'm not shooting Saturday in it. I just don't know how much shooting I can take in one weekend. LOL

Saturday forecast mostly cloudy and 81 degrees. I'm typing this with a sweatshirt and slippers on. I don't think anyone will die of sunstroke this weekend.

In. Just have to load some ammo or get @fieldgrades people to do it for me :)
They were actually out of .45 230 grain this week. Guess I need to back off on my order frequency.

Cleaning up a couple of all steel military weapons of mass destruction so they'll run nice and smooth on the clock tomorrow afternoon.

Y'all remember, sign in at 11 and shoot at noon, due to range/member work day at BGC tomorrow.
