BUMP STOCK BAN RELEASED TODAY

Perfect, thanks.

So the issue for those intent on preventing further infringement is that this device does facilitate the function of a machine gun in that the trigger is mechanically activated rather than activated by an intentional pull of the trigger. Showing that the gun can be caused to fire repeatedly with a single conscious pull of the trigger through other mechanical means, either be a rubber band, a shoestring, an electric drill, or nothing at all, is not a good argument that the stock does not facilitate automatic firing, rather it’s an argument for requiring a 20lb trigger or some new lawyering around the definition of machine gun so that none of these tricks will work.

It’ll be interesting to see how the litigation progresses, selecting a court will be key as will Trumps directions to the DOJ on how vigorously it should defend the EO.

I answered your question factually. Your inferences from my answer are a bit tortured logically. I could not disagree more, but I do not care to argue your points.

A susinct explanation of what's going on. Especially helpful for those of you who think this is about bump stocks.

I've said in several other posts, this is not about a damn bumpstock. It's just another thin edge of the wedge to pry the 2nd away from the Bill of Rights. And, I also donated $100 to the cause. And I used paypal, just because they are anti-gun.

Please don’t, I’m not making points that I wish to defend, just contemplating the tortured logic that we’re likely to hear in the days ahead.

I do need to remember to look at the existing law, the video that @IUHoosier429 posted refers specifically to activation or manipulation of the trigger rather than pull of the trigger. This made me think of the binary trigger which I think was okay because each the press and release was determined to be a distinct manipulation, but I wonder if this executive order will touch on that indirectly.

The DOJ is using the 'back door' to change a law that only Congress can do.
Trump and Wayne are not stupid, this ban is by design so it ends up in court.

Put a schematic drawing of a full auto AR next to a semi auto AR.

There is no auto sear in the semi auto rifle. You can not have a machine gun without the necessary parts.

I could put an AR semi rifle or pistol in a rest and clamp it down, then use a cam on a hand crank to work
the trigger and not have a bump stock.
Please stop with the 4d chess crap. The day sessions stepped down the whole 4d thing was busted. This Trump screwing us plain and simple.

Next? I'm sure if/when some assclown does it. Or when trump feels like signing away more rights.

Ok I’m going to honest woooooooo so they banned a Device that makes us less accurate at short range and for those of u who can’t hit the broad side of a barn at 100 more accurate. Man it’s a ammo waster and the binary trigger is way better option 2 burst shots with safe and single shot options. Just my opinion to each there own.

And you know for sure those aren't next?

One wonders if you have ever shot a bump stock. I used a curtain rod not long ago and it dumped just about every round in a 9x12 target at somewhere around 25 yards. I can only imagine an actual bump stock would be plenty accurate.

In addition to the taking of property without due process or compensation, consider that bump firing has been defined as equivalent to full auto.

Now that the ATF can claim that AR-15's are "easily modifiable" into machine guns watch the fun begin.

Tragic: Every Single Bump Stock In Nation Suddenly Lost In Boating Accident
December 19th, 2018

U.S.—In a rash of tragedies all across the United States, every single bump stock in the nation was tragically lost in various boating accidents earlier this week.

Coincidentally, the bump stocks have just been banned by the Trump administration. Since all the bump stocks have been destroyed, it's now impossible for the ATF to confiscate them or fine people who did not destroy them.

"Well, I guess our job is done," an ATF representative said. "We were gonna have to make sure people complied with this unilateral executive order, but now I guess we can just harrass gun owners for other stuff. Worked out pretty nicely for all of us, I think."

It's not clear why gun owners were taking their bump stocks boating. Some have theorized they were using them to fish, or just wanted to make sure they weren't stolen why they were away. Whatever the case, it's tragic that the bump stocks are now all at the bottom of lakes, rivers, and oceans from coast to coast.

That is inaccurate.

"we are screwed"

No, we're not. We are screwed only if we allow ourselves to be screwed. If we get screwed, we've no one to blame but ourselves.

"no one has our backs"

Au contraire mon frere. There's quite a few and the number grows every day. Liberty is more popular than you may think. Do not listen to the media. They will tell you, "the American people want this...they want common sense reforms...they want a ban on semi-automatic rifles...they want restrictions on magazine capacities." That...is...horsesh*t. If the American people really wanted all that, then why have gun/accessory sales, specifically ARs/ variants, went through the roof in the last decade?

"No matter how/who we vote for"

Your rights do not begin nor do they end with who you vote for or against. We have got to rid ourselves of this mentality that the only rights we have are what we're "allowed" to have by politicians. That is complete bullsh*t and goes against every tenet upon which we are founded.

"the Constitution and bill of rights are slowly fading away and nobody cares"

Think so? I bet all those folks in NY, who openly defied and burned registration papers, I bet they care. What about those folks in CT? Seems a lot of them aren't to keen on registering anything, seeing as how the compliance rate is in the single digits. Yeah, folks care and they're doing something about it...they're saying, "NO....I'm not complying."

Citizens, all.

It's not "their" liberty to take...it's yours, but first, you've gotta convince that dude in the mirror that it's worth hanging on to...no matter what. Many have done just that and many more make that decision daily. That keeps happening, and we might just have ourselves a republic full of free, independent people.
Great post.. so how do you suggest we keep our liberty. Trump seemed like the guy now he has backstabed us... Voting is not working..

You might want to check out the rules before you post again. Just sayin'

This one is a firecracker, for sure.

But, JR, what rule would be violated in his post, calling someone a fool is all I see that's bad about it.
He sure is coming in hot and heavy with his first three posts on the site

At the end of the day, living Free is a choice.

Every scribbling of every politician requires your conscious consent to have any teeth. It's not the government that's ending the war on drugs..... it's the People who've decided that they no longer have patience for the State baggage that comes with it.

Sure, States are "decriminalizing" things.....but that's playing catch up to a population that's moved on.

There aren't enough cops, troops, guns, attack aircraft or drones to force the population to do anything it doesn't want to do.

It takes willfull obedience and compliance.

So choose.

Funny, I've found a lot of knowledge on many subjects from some great folk here.
If you find that everyone around you's a jerk, it's most likely you. That type of feedback helps one keep their sanity.

...and so the king's law has thus been published in the Federal Register on the 26th day of December 2018.

Effective March 26, 2019, the possession of a bump stock will be a felony; current possessors of these devices are required to destroy the devices or abandon them at an ATF office prior to the effective date of the rule.

Read it here...no matter the objection raised, the king's men always found themselves to be in the right.

I am holding out hope of the underground medium/long game of Trump knowing this’ll never hold water and just being an act til it’s challenged.

This IS overreaching in such a grand manner BUT for a reason. If the public swallows this then it is a simple move forward to ADD firearms to the list. 9 years.
