Buying a suppressor from a private individual in NC? How do I do it?

Greetings Folks!
I am in NC and would like to buy a suppressor from someone I know here in Charlotte who is willing to sell me his used Larue tranquillo can (good deal for me, plus I have a larue rifle coming my way).

Question is how do I do this? Does NC have any weird laws that would prevent this from being done easily via a Form 4 that we complete together and send to the ATF? Transfer would be from the individual seller to my trust that I will setup.

As of now, I am planing to use the the silencershop $129.95 NFA trust if it would work for this situation but want to confirm that I am moving in the right direction before I purchase the trust. Appreciate any advice from those in the know!

It'd be easier and cheaper if you did individual but thats up to you. Just a form 4 person to person. No real drama.
 
Form 4 between the two of you. 5320.23(s) if you’re doing it as a trust. DIY photos and prints. No dealer involved.

Tracking the need for a form 4 of course.

What is the 5320.20 for in this case? I thought that was only for moving NFA items out of state?

Fixed it. Sorry.

I’m in Charlotte in case the seller needs any help. He won’t need to do prints or photos, so you’ll have to handle that on your end.

Sounds like my plan of using the silencershop nfa trust is sound from what you guys are saying? Transfer from individual to my trust via form 4 and gtg.

I dont think ill have to do the 5320.23 forms as i dont plan to add any family to the trust until after the tax stamp is approved. This way i can avoid all those extra paperwork issues at least for a bit.

I don’t know anything about their trust. I use one from thetrustshop.net ($49) and it’s very easy.

You still have to do a 5320.23 RPQ for yourself.

Lastly, am I responsible for doing the CLEO notification in section 5 of the 5320.23? Or does the ATF do this? Do i simply mail my local pd a copy of this form? Bit confused on this part of it.

You’re responsible. The 3rd copy of the Form 4 and the 2nd copy of the RPQ both say “CLEO Copy” (or something close) in the footer. Just drop it in the mail to them.
 
BTW if anyone need a bootleg copy of quicken willmaker PM me. That what Ive done my own trusts with over the years. Works fine. Free.
