Freaking $1,500 optic comes with $0.50 lens covers.

Little things like that piss me off. At that price point, add another $20 and ship something decent.

It’s not even that they’re cheap, they don’t work. Don’t snap closed. When they’re open, they flop around getting in the way.

That pic was after a low crawl under barbed wire through mud, shoot the last stage then ~1/2 mile back to finish.

@jjwestbrook was there, Clinton 2018. He even made me do a push up in the mud.

Last month at the night shoot, yes, I literally threw my rifle up the hill so I could pull myself up the muddy ass hill.

Good times.

Funny convo @barf given our “cheap rifles vs Gucci” discussion at dinner last week.

I beat the crap out of Aero/PSA stuff (with good triggers and great glass) and rarely have any trouble. I wonder just exactly how “good” the premium stuff is that never gets used as intended?

You’re giving them too much credit. That’s not a .50 lens cover, it’s A LOT LESS! Probably .05 maybe. You would think a company claiming to be top tier and have all kinds of contracts wouldn’t want their name associated with that cheap piece of crap! 🤬

Oh I know I can throw my rifle and optic in the mud and it will still work. I just don’t want to clean it off after 😂

And that’s why they include the crappy ones with the scope. No different than other companies including crappy sights and triggers.
 
sheesh, you pay more for lens covers than i pay for optics. is there a rule saying you can't pee them clean and keep shooting?

Define Gucci. The term is getting used as a bad thing lately, but originally it just meant expensive/nice, yeah? Noveske makes damn good rifles and has had socom contracts for years now.

Gucci, from what I understand, means form/aesthetics over function. I always knew they were nice rifles, but never knew they were battle tested.

Since I threw the term out there in this thread…I define “Gucci gear” as expensive/top tier stuff that doesn’t get used hard.

SEALS with Nobeske gear aren’t “Gucci”. Civvies that only take their Noveske out on sunny days at square ranges are running “Gucci gear”.

JSOC, not SOCOM. Those pics were DEVGRU. Like Delta/CAG and ISA they get pretty much whatever they want. @barf , NSW (i.e., SEALs) have used Nightforce for years, and yes, they throw them in the mud, just like they (and the Marines) throw their $4,000 Schmidt & Benders around in the mud. I agree with you; I don't have a problem getting muddy, I just don't want to clean them.
 
That pic up thread with all the mud, that was by far the worst conditions I’ve been in for a Run n Gun match. Dirty, dusty, wet, etc are all typical, but that was an extreme example.

I don’t WANT to drag stuff through the mud, but it’s good to know it works when you have to. Even that Springfield XD(m) that everybody loves hating took it like a champ!

I still have traces of mud on my rifle and gear from that race

This picture is going to give me an aneurysm. I know its a by product of *actually* using your gun, but I'm having flashbacks to being a joey and getting my shit pushed in for having a spec of carbon on my BCG. That Carolina Clay hits different.

Forgot to take pics before cleaning stuff today..here’s the last of it. Yes, the NF got drug through the mud. Along with most everything else. This was a team match, my partner had to drag me (casualty!) through the dirt into a ditch (cover!) as part of the stage.
