The Capital City Gun Show is this weekend at the NC State Fairgrounds. This is in the Exposition Center beside the Jim Graham Building. This is the smaller of the two large gun shows in Raleigh, but I have found some really cool stuff at this show over the years.

We’ll be there in our usual spot. Who else is going?

What is your "usual spot"?

I plan to go, most likely on Saturday morning.

Make another find like last weekend and I’ll be there!!! ;)

I'll be there early Saturday to check it out, CFF will not have a table there.

At this show, first aisle as you come in, last block of tables before you get to the back wall. Assuming they don't move us, which they have done on occasion. We have a group that takes an entire block and that usually gets us the same spot every time.

What business name am I looking for?

How big is this one? Gots fund burning a hole in my pocket.

I’m guessing about half the number of tables than the Dixie. I like it because I can walk the whole floor before my feet/legs get tired. Although there are fewer vendors there, it seems to me that the ratio of gun related to non-gun related stuff is better at this show than the Dixie.

If I can convince one of my kids to go with me first thing Saturday morning, I might make the trip over.
Do I have to clean out my pockets before coming in, like no pocket knife or Leatherman? Or is it just loaded guns that they prohibit at the door?

Not sure what they allow as far as knives, but I do empty my pockets in the car before I go in. Car keys, phone, and wallet are all I take with me. And a empty backpack.

If they run it like the Dixie show, you'll have to empty your pockets (knives are perfectly ok but you can't pass thru the metal detector with them). You'll have your unloaded gun zip tied and demonstrate you don't have any ammo. I leave my mags in the car 'cause I'd rather have the loaded mags stolen than my gun. ;)

Dixie is the only show I remember that uses an actual metal detector.

How closely will they search, looking for ammo? (This is a serious question.)

If you see a guy with ponytail and goatee in a CFF shirt Saturday morning, it is probably me, so say hey. :)

Be sure to wear your CFF name tags and any CFF bling.
BTW, if you get your hand stamped you can return Sunday at no extra admission fee.

I’m not going to make it to the show. Neither kid wanted to go, and I need to do stuff around the house. Boooooo

If anyone went or sees this and is still there, do you recall any dealer having a DPMS G2 308?

So, you’re sayin’ the guy I hugged with the ponytail and goatee wasn’t you?

What’s the draw to guy shows around here? Like what y’all expecting to find that atypical at retail store? Deals? Rare items? Etc...

For me, it’s the hunt for something older and unusual, rarely found in normal gun stores. It doesn’t happen often but there have been times I’ve driven home with a huge :D.

Might head there tomorrow AM.... YAY! Gun shows!

Do any of you know if anyone is selling 80% lowers? Just curious.

Nice crowd, just a few empty tables. Lots of used handguns, some overpriced.

Not a bad show. The crowds were manageable, able to actually see the merchandise and talk to the sellers. Less non-gunshow vendors. Ammo prices were pretty good. Lots of old double barrel shotguns. Minuteman Ammo had a decent selection of powders at good prices - I got a can of Titegroup for $20.

Just a question: anybody know anythimg about Osprey scopes? There's one dealer that has an extensive selection. Look good, clear but do they hold up firing something like a .308?

If anybody sees a .410 SxS or even O/U (not sure they even make those in .410?) for $200 or less...grab it. I’m coming to Raleigh on Thursday and will bring cash and pick it up. :D

Want to make an SBS out of one, so it just needs to be in decent condition...not necessary pretty, and makes no difference about what chokes it currently has.

I got an older model several years ago and wasn't impressed, but they may have improved. Made in China.

Hey I use Osprey. I like em. A buddy turned me onto them.. I heard they were hit or miss back in the day but all the glass i got from them I love. and i wouldnt have even tried them except they got a really good warranty similar to vortex so i risked it and they are solid for the price... As for the .308 i got one on a 223 and one on a 308 ( just a tc compass nothing special) but it holds and it does everything I need it to do.

course depends what you looking for.
