Someone gave me an old Gemtop camper shell for my Ford Ranger XLT. The problem is the profile of shell and cab is not the same with probably a 1-11/2 inch gap between. This is not anything more than a work truck but I would like to keep the rain out if I'm carrying tools. Any of you have any solutions short of $100 worth of rubber gasket online? Thanks in advance for any help! There is no front in this shell -just the edge of the sides and top to attach to.

Ive used an inflatable seal in the past.

That seems to be for shells with a window in the front end -to fit between the two sliding windows. I just have open front shell. But thanks!

One to one and a half inches? Seems like a lot! Are you sure it'll meet the bed well enough to clamp on solidly? (i.e., don't want it going airborn at 80mph on the highway).

Is that in terms of overhang/side-to-side, or top of bedrails ~ bottom of cap?

Hard to make very helpful suggestions since I can't quite visualize the situation...but that never stopped me before! :)

You might find closed cell foam insulation at Howe's or Lame Depot - there is a a product called caulk backer rod that comes in several diameters in 20' rolls (kinda small dia., though). Pipe insulation is bigger diameter, but short lengths, so butt ends are a path for leaks.

Pool noodles? Might could rip 'em in half lengthwise and cut to length, find some way to goo or glue the side pcs to the front pc. And they would add a tasteful accent of neon watermelon or lime green to an otherwise run-of-the-mill drab work vehicle!
