I was in the market to get a MSR or JetBoil stove since I plan to start camping a lot more now they we live in VA and fairly close to some national forests. I came across this one from Amazon the other day and while I normally don’t buy cheap gear, I’m more of a “buy once, cry once” type of person, I couldn’t overlook a nearly 5 star rating with close to 4K reviews. So I decided to try one out and I used it camping yesterday to cook dinner for myself. Granted this was the only time I’ve used it so far, but I was impressed. It’s very compact and lightweight, and boiled water fairly quickly. At $13.99 I’ll definitely be picking up a few spares.

Nice, I’ll have to keep an eye out for cylinders. Have you ever had any issues with your stoves?

Not the first. I was looking at jetboil stoves when I found these etekcity stoves. I was like “oh look at that, ima cheap bastard anyway, go me”

All of mine live in a Stanley cup just like the one you pictured. That’s where I store em. Yes I have 6 cups too. I’m an overachiever

Good to hear. Those stanly cups are awesome too. I can fit the stove and that 4oz cylinder in one.

I have a few of them. Paid around $8-10 each. They really work quite well and pack small...

I have a couple of those too. Great stove for the money.

I have an esbit for backpacking, and a Primus classic for when I'm staying in one spot....then the usual Coleman stuff for car camping.

I may have to pick up a couple of those for Spares.

I have a jet boil and like it for a lot of reasons. Mainly because everything fits in the cup, the cup is insolated so you don’t burn your hands if you touch it and it boils 2 cups of water at ridiculous speed.

I have a couple of the etekcity stoves. I use them to cook my lunch when hunting and during our extended power outage back with hurricane Michael we heated water for bathing, and cooked meals with them. I've not had a single issue with them.

I have a few of these, as well. Had one blow the o-ring on a trip and catch on fire. Other than that, they have given stellar service. They are cheap enough to have spares and light enough to carry a spare, if you so desire.

The one that caught fire worked fine after replacing the o-ring. Everything plastic on it melted, but it still worked.

The Etekcity stoves on Amazon are awesome. I've been using mine pretty hard for around 6mo no problems.

I've got one with no branding on that looks identical and it runs fine. I've also got some flat pack twig stoves that work well and a Trangia spirit burner that is my first choice to use. I also find the Esbit cube stoves really handy but the smell of the cubes isn't great, they stink up whatever you have them in without a good airtight container.

thanks for posting about etekcity stoves.
i didn't know about them, but now i will try one.

our stoves are 3 types:
1. standard "car camping" Coleman. got it as a wedding present a million years ago. still runs great. replaced the leather gasket once.
2. Chef Master butane. after the ice storm of 2002, i bought two more. cooking on top of a kerosene heater takes a while.
3. Swiss Army volcano stove. my backpacking stove. don't do that much anymore. here's a link: https://www.amazon.com/Swiss-Army-Volcano-Stove-Piece/dp/B00LCE7EYI
