Whenever you can find supplies buy them. People that were laughing at preppers 6 months ago aren't laughing anymore. Canning supplies, shooting supplies, everything having to do with getting along is in short supply. If you have any canning supplies and you don't want them, go ahead and put them up for sale.

Yeah, we could sure use some.

A local smaller grocery store had 30 packs (12 to a pack) of wide mouth lids in stock earlier this week at $3.99/pack.

The other half was just complaining about not being able to find quart jars. Apparently they can be purchased from Ball directly but shipping prices are high as draft nuts.

You can never have too many Masons. Contrary to my wifes opinion.

Just found these at my local Walmart. Picked them up. Going to check another Walmart later.

I think I have plenty of jars. I haven't checked the quart jar stash.

I am running low on Tattler lids and seals.

Dang, stuff them jars full of 9mm ammo and sell for the current rate for both jar and ammo and you would be a very wealthy man.

On the shelf at the new Greenville Walmart as of 10 minutes ago.

Buyer beware:

We bought some lids on Amazon that were supposed to be ball and they were in terrible condition. Found out afterward they are from China. Be careful where you order online.

If anyone runs across any lids (regular or wide mouth) at the normal $3/4, I’d be happy to reimburse and pay for shipping. Looking for around $100 worth of lids to set back for the next couple years.

Last week the small independent grocery store 5 miles from me had 30 packs of Kerr wide mouth lids for $3.99/pack. I told a friend about them so I don't know how many (if any) are left. I'll be more than happy to pick some or all of them up for you for cost plus shipping if you would like.

If it isn’t any trouble I’d take 10 packs of the wide mouth lids if they’re available.

Be careful, there are knock off Ball lids out there now.

I'll check tomorrow to see what they have.
Ya buy every thing on the shelf in any store you go to. And then we get threads asking why is there a shortage.

Buy everything you can find. Hurry. Buy it all.

Makes no sense.

Am I missing something here? I posted what was on the shelf in case anyone needed it which means I left it on the shelf. o_O

Any lids I buy will be put to good use in the not so distant future.

Thank you again @easternnc4me for checking on these and for the others you picked up earlier this year and shipped.

Not surprised there is a canning shortage. You can’t get a freezer to save your life and everyone wants to preserve the stuff from the gardens they decided to plant.

Just came back from the store. They had 35 packs. I picked you up 10. The people who own the store own another one in another town. I know the cashier that was working today and asked her if the other store has any regular mouth canning lids (she works at both stores). She said she thinks they do and she would check tomorrow when she goes there to work. If they do she will bring some to the store that is closer to me. Will let you know when I hear from her.

Check dollar generals near you. They always put their canning goods up on clearance starting mid-late summer. Always pick up extra cause they always end up getting used. My mom as she's went with smaller gardens as she's gotten older uses more pint and 1/2 pint jars than anything now, prob cans more in those sizes than qt jars now. I'd love to come across a dozen of so 1/2 gallons with a standard ring size for pickled eggs, sausages, peppers, etc.

I have a cousin who is 81, that has cases and cases of brand new, unopened 1/2 gallon jars in his basement.

There’s 4 cases of the 1/2 gallon at the monkey junction Wally World in Wilmington.

I think it has more to do with people having been home all summer and growing gardens for the first time. It's not PDS "pending doom syndrome".

There's plenty of bacon and peanut butter here. So I'm good.

Id also wager to say the fact that deep freezers are still darn near unobtanium may have something to do with it. Almost everything I would put in a deep freezer can be canned and will last years. No electricity, no freezer burn, no waiting on anything to thaw. I refuse to spend the money deep freezers demand right now so we jar it up.

I've had good luck at Tractor Supply and Food Lion. Most all the Food Lion's in my area have had jars, rings and lids on the shelf everytime I've gone in.

Did you get your lids and seals?

I found the other box a while ago while searching for the quart jars. Found them with the quart jars. I need to start writing stuff down!

If anyone is really short of jars, check craft stores like Michael's. I saw a few weeks ago that they had several cases of jars when everyone else was tapped out. They're the same Ball jars that everyone uses.

Their price was $15.99 per case, but the shelves were full.

My local Walmart had a decent amount of jars when I went the other day. Also ordered some tattlers beginning of the month. Took less than a week to ship.

Grow your own, quality control is on you, enjoyment of the process, and lastly it flat out tastes better. Most of the stuff in the tin cans at the grocery stores taste like crap after you've got used to eating your own.
