Dammit, 8500 rounds in and I get an honest to goodness malfunction.

Running 115gr Tula today, last of this case. Some bullets were dragging on the front of the magazine body keeping the spring compressed / the follower down which in turn kept the rounds from staying tight against the feed lips (that sounds nasty). Usually it sorts itself out as the gun recoils, but today I was shooting slowfire and...

Since I wasn't running "at speed" I didn't just tap-rack it like usual, but that wouldn't have cleared it in this case. The next round was 1/2" below the top of the mag. When I pulled the mag out to inspect a few rounds fell out of the mag, the one that was wedged was 3 down from the top.

Nothing that exciting, just thought I would share. And @Sneakymedic already offered me $100 for my POS unreliable glock so don't try to low ball me.

8500 rounds might be time for new mag springs, RTB spring, etc.

Mine did that a time or two at about the same round count. New springs all around made it go away.

Hmm, I've never had my Colt mk3 Trooper, 386NG, nor my GP100WC double feed....Funny that.

Since you remember my Trapdoor saga, you'll surely appreciate my desperate need to learn.

I'll take it off your hands for free and sign a liability waiver should something bad happen to me when I am using it.

What kind of grip tape is that right there @Jayne ?
T cut out means Talons. Gotta be the rubber ones cause it doesn't look like the grit. 3rd gen grit wraps all the way around.
Ben Stoegers are way cheaper, no rubber option, larger grit than Talons, but don't come up as high or wrap the backstrap.

YOU'RE MISTAKEN!
Glocks have never malfuntioned... ever... in the history of the world... or the universe. I hope Gaston doesn't come to your house and personally kick your tail for slander. You might want to "rethink" your statement. ;)

The talon rubber. I didn't like the 'greasy' feel at all, thought it was much worse than the stock texture after I used it for a bit so I just cut the backstrap bit off. The sides/finger grooves don't bug me so I left 'em alone. What I really wanted was the skateboard texture grips to make it more like my M&P, but I grabbed the wrong set.

Were you using an OEM magazine? It looks like you were from the baseplate, but just curious.

Yea, OEM with the baseplate painted "sunflower yellow". Makes the mags easier to find at the Wake matches (always seems to be dark in there).

Did you say tap-rack-it like usual? Like usual as in per training, or as in this is normal? :D

I used to run a Kimber so I had lots of malfunction clearing practice. I also mix dummy rounds in my mags to both see how bad I'm flinching and to aid in training. Sometimes the bottom shelf Russian ammo has really hard primers and you get FTFs. One case was particularly bad, I was getting 1 FTF per 100 or so rounds, which meant I was getting one every match. It's why I run a stock striker spring, if you use a lightened one it frequently won't set off the steel ammo.

I know we've ventured off into grip tape and trap doors now, but bullets hanging up in the magazine would make me worry about the OAL of those rounds.
Any chance you have some left to measure the overall length? Or if you take the barrel out of your glock and press a round in will it fall out with minimal effort when you turn the barrel upside down? I had some loaded to 1.160 (max for 9mm is 1.169") and they were hitting the rifling of one of my Glock 17 chambers, and even they weren't long enough to impede the magazine.

I guess your magazines could be seriously fouled up..

Actually no, I fired the last of that case that day. I'm now into a case of the wolf stuff with the double lacquer (sealed primers and sealed bullets). It's some of my favorite of the steel ammo.

It wouldn't surprise me that the rounds are a little long, I can't imagine there is that much QA at the Tula plant.

So, this confirms the opinion that it wasn't the fault of the grip tape. Good call @Friday.

Another day, another lesson learned. ;)

I once bought a Walther P22 so I could frequently practice those drills. It worked. :(

I was mistaken, I found one loaded mag that wasn't in my range bag still had some in it. Most were 1.162, longest was 1.170, shortest was 1.158. So at least one was out of spec.
