Bought tickets tonight. Gotta work opening night but got them for Sat morning and then again Tue evening. Both of those are the cheap ticket (~$5) showings.

Anybody else looking forward to this one?

In theory I will get to see it “free” on our Disney cruise.
Or...think of it as the most expensive movie ticket you’ve ever bought, and it came with a free cruise!!

Far cry from my childhood days of Capt Marvel on Saturday mornings in the early 70’s ...

This will be my first cruise of any kind. Hopefully won’t be sick as a dog.

You can't even tell the ship is moving most of the time. The really nice thing that Disney does is they don't require you to carry a cup around everywhere for free drinks. They just have soda stations and bars set up everywhere. Have fun man and let us know about the new ship.

Wow, I haven't even thought of that show since I was 8 years old. I guess it didn't take much to entertain us back then.

Now you've done it! Shazam is now the character's name because the original Captain Marvel character was licensed by DC comics after Marvel had already trademarked Captain Marvel (so he couldn't be marketed as Captain Marvel).

His own (likely crappy) movie coming out this spring.

Opens tomorrow.

We still have our tix for Sat morning and again on Tue evening. We’ll see if we keep the tix for the 2nd showing or not...fingers crossed it’s enjoyable.

I hope it's good. I really want to see a good movie with a female super hero that should be good, that isn't just PC crap...

Leave the political statements out of the escape from reality pics please!

I saw it, at home, which made it better as I might have been upset at having paid to see it.

I saw it and thought it was good. Not great but good. If I go see it in a theater, I may bump it up a notch.

As far as not on the same level as the rest of the MCU, they all have their misses. Iron Man 2 & 3 were not good, the first 2 Thors were not great and the first Captain America was meh IMO

I took the kids this morning to see it. I liked it. It was interesting and the interplay between Carol and Fury was funny.

Nothing that I’d consider a Spoiler below

We’re on the way home. Really enjoyed it. I would say it’s made more like a Guardians movie with a little of the first Iron Man mixed in...lots of witty banter.

Music and other 90’s stuff was cool.

Neat to see that much of Fury and learn some things about him.

Lots of Easter eggs throughout the movie that link to all things Marvel.

Really liked the tribute to Stan Lee in the opening credits.

I don’t think it was as “women power” focused as Black Panther was “black power” focused. Yes, there was some SJW type topics, but not near the level I expected.

There is an extra scene basically right after the movie ends. There’s another one after all the credits. The first one is absolutely worth watching. The second really isn’t. We always stay for credits anyway. My dad always said those people worked hard and most never see their names, so we’ve always stayed until they turned the lights on. I’ve continued that habit with my family. If anybody wants to get up and leave, I’ll tell you what the final scene is via PM.

Other highlights from the preshow:
1. The new Spider-Man looks like it’s gonna be good
2. Hobbs and Shaw is going to be pure fun
3. The Latina chick in the Progressive commercial is smokin’ hot

I’d bought tickets 2+ months ago for today and again on Tuesday. That was in case we saw it once and felt like we needed to see it again to catch some stuff we missed, or if plans came up today and we wouldn’t make it so I already had the other tickets. That being said, I’m going to request a refund on them and use that money to buy the digital code instead. It was good, but it wasn’t like A:IW where there was so much going on I need to see it again to catch the stuff I missed.

Went and saw it yesterday. Not bad but not fantastic. I thought her character was a bit wooden. She basically played the Abbot to Jackson's Costello.

Not too bad with the girl power angle. Like most of the MCU movies it will probably grow on me as I rewatch it.

Neat plot twist.

Why is Captain Marvel portrayed as a girl?

Saw it on the cruise. I enjoyed it. I like Marvel movies that inject humor the way this one did. Thor:Ragnarok, GOTG, etc.

The only real turn-off is that they didn’t explore where they the limits of her abilities lies. Possibly for plot flexibility for Avengers Endgame.

Saw it last night. Among the MCU, I'd rate it somewhere above Ed Norton's Hulk and below most of the Netflix serials. IOW, I didn't like it. Was almost bored throughout...story seemed disjointed, action scenes weren't all that great.

He died. She was infused/imbued with his DNA and became Ms Marvel way back in 1977. This isn't a new PC thing. The Carol Danvers character has had several names including Capt Marvel over the years.
It just sad.
Women are not men no matter how much DNA they are infused with.
