Carb Cycling

I don't eat anything before I work out. I don't like to splash merlot (puke). But I make sure I get a good carb-protein meal afterward.

I have found in the past that for me carbs before a workout give me stomach cramps.

I'm kinda doing this, but more by accident. I'm starting to adjust my meals based on my activity for the day. Today I ate the largest breakfast I have had in a while. Added the bacon back and kept my 2 pieces of toast. But I worked out this morning and have a heavy day at work this evening too.

I've just added about 16 oz of Gatorade with a half teaspoon of micronized creatine to my morning workout. It's what I drink while I'm on the bike. When I come off the back I fill up with water and move to my stretching/light weights. I didn't want a full on pre workout, I just don't work out that hard. But I can tell I'm getting a spike in energy really quick from this mix. Sugar and easy carbs will do that I guess, when you are not used to drinking it.

The main meal I adjust is breakfast, since I fix it myself. I can adjust lunch easily too. But my wife cooks dinner, so she has that planned out in advance so I don't count that into my adjusting. The breakfast adjustments are based on a slight weight increase and no noticeable cholesterol decrease in my bloodwork. Still bummed about that. So I'm cutting bacon out most mornings, sad. But keeping the toast in most mornings for some carbs. I've gone to Dave's Killer Bread Power Seed since I can get it at work.

I've added a couple sweet potatoes through the week for lunch. And I do yogurt with granola as a snack at night after work with a glass of milk and a scoop of protein powder.

Basically, I'm not staying away from all carbs, just being more careful. And few if any junk carbs. If I get positive results I might try to pay more attention to my tweaks but I'm not worried enough about it to journal it.

I tried working in some things like corn tortillas and garlic bread pieces at dinner but my stomach decided it was not a good idea.

The Keto didn't work out for my wife with the high fats causing problems with her CD.

I've been reading from Chris Powell.

He has different types of cycling, We are going to do the easy cycle first, then look at cranking it up.

I eat on feel mostly. I do very low carb, high fat high protein most days. The other night I felt like a pizza, so I had one, had a killer workout next morning. Nice and sore today. Will go low carb again today.
