Bath houses are decent, it is pretty quiet and the gates lock @ 9pm. We used that campground multiple times before we got a place down that way. Actually went down there last weekend and rode around to check out the little cabins they put in, they looked pretty nice. There are several walking trails inside the park that are really nice. There is a little office with some odds and ends, ice cream, fishing supplies, firewood(they recommend not bringing your own due to pine beetles and things) and a few camping needs. There is also a boat ramp and a few docks to wet a line or launch a kayak. Nice enough place. I would reserve well in advance as it usually fills up quick.

We have camped there for over 25 years. It is decent for a state park camp ground. They have made several improvements over the last 5 or so years.

As said above, reserve now. At that, you may not be able to reserve one of the few electric sites. Those are usually booked up to a year in advance.

It fills up quick. And if it’s been raining a lot and wet down there, you can actually SEE the swarms of mosquitoes coming through the woods

Yeah, this is a concern. Even in Sept/Oct?
Last time I went was Labor Day weekend a few years ago. Had several storms come up the coast and the low places in the woods on the trail in the park were all flooded. We didn’t get 100 yards from the car and decided against it

But fall is prime fishing time, so it will book up even faster. Also not sure if they are year round or not.

Have they completed the bath houses renovations? I bid a project down there to renovate the bath houses. It was suppose to start last year.

We’ve been there a bunch. Island taxi will pick up and drop you off at the gate.

Decent place to camp. Close to everything. Kinda of a Tiki-bar/home brew beer style place on Harper and Dow Road. That’s a long walk short bike trip from the camp ground.
Boat ramp it easy in and out. No problem putting a 22 foot boat in and parking vehicle. Snacks and some fishing tackle in the dock building. My neighbor used to work there.
One of the few places Venus flytraps grow wild. Don’t try to dig any up to take home or you will get to talk to the .gov agent. They are protected.
