Our Cocker Spaniel, Casey Rabbit, passed today. 12-3-99 to 09-09-17, almost 18 years old. She's been our daughter for so long. Unable to have children, she filled a void and became so much more than a pet, she was our child for many years. She was ready but we'll miss her so much. I held on most of the day but I can't stop crying now. RIP baby.

We had a son in 14' and Casey girl has struggled for the past year. We're blessed.

Sucks. Cockers are dumb but such sweet and lovable dogs. Ours would have probably lived that long had she not gotten cancer.

Sounds like she had a full life though.

Dammit Man, I'm sorry, but 18 years is a great life for our furry babies. Rest assured that you gave her a great home as well as a loving, peaceful existence and in doing so she never feared nor wanted for anything, unlike some more unfortunate pups.
There is something blessed for those who give their complete love to their dogs...

So sorry to learn of this. Our pets have a special place in our hearts.

Sorry to hear of your loss.

It's obvious you loved her and gave her a great life. Rest assured that she loved y'all at least as much.

sorry to hear that. its a shame we only get such a short time with that side of our "families" - its never enough it seems.

My heart is just destroyed but at the same time I'm happy she is at peace and so thankful I was allowed to share in her life. We gave her everything we could and she did the same for us.

Almost 18 years with weak kidneys. We cooked every meal she ate until the last two years and never left her longer than a work day. She went on every vacation and every day tri

I always give this poem in this situation...

The Rainbow Bridge

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,

Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.

Where the friends of man and woman do run,

When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,

Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.

On this golden land, they wait and they play,

Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,

For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.

Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,

Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,

Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.

All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,

Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;

Together again, both person and pet.

So they run to each other, these friends from long past,

The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,

Has turned into joy once more in each heart.

They embrace with a love that will last forever,

And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

Sorry for your loss, only time will heal this wound,

Sorry for the loss of Casey, I know how I felt when Bailey went to the Rainbow Bridge but I know she's waiting for me to come throw the ball again..... just like Casey's waiting for you guys..... I'll give Bailey a heads up to keep an eye on her until you get there..
