So gas checked cast with copper colored plastic coating? whats the speed limit on those? how do they perform?

I was thinking a hard cast, swagged, firm based, coated bullet might possibly scoot a bit faster and stabilize a bit longer then its similar plain cast projectile, but I haven't yet played me up a load...I'm even thinking I'd cast the lighter end of 115 grain-similar pill. This psyop plandemic has kinda shut down triggering for a long minute. ;-)

Still not 100% sure what I’m seeing.

Looks like you made .311 projectiles with jackets made from spent brass, I’m not sure what brass, can you tell us? Swaging bullets is cool for sure.

The jacket will engage the rifling just like a fmj, and the lead part of the bullet won’t touch the rifling, so I don’t think you need to coat any of it, unless you just like the colors.

I’m also curious if you’ve tried softer lead, making a SP bullet? I’d think it’d be easier to work.

I have several sets of swaging dies, but haven’t played with them yet.

Oh, and as long as I’m interrogating you, how do you anneal your brass to make jackets, I have thought about using a lead pot, but no decision yet.

Oh, and here is the pic.

I had it wrong thats More than a gas check. Thats a pretty cool jacketing setup there and i wil agree: coating is not doing anything functional for you. Ill stay subb’d to this as I am interested in how they turn out. Btw what is the intended use?

I think I see, you aren’t using jackets made from spent brass, you’re using Corbins base guards, which are a lot more like a gas check. Everything but the copper bottom of the bullet is lead.

Had I known about his base guards I would have recognized this from the pictures of the bullets before casting.

It would be a more interesting discussion if you didn’t make me guess at what you’re doing. Please let us know how they shoot.
