Castageddon 2017/18 is a go.
Pix please! The old ones got gone!
I have about 1000 lbs of lead stashed here and its about time for a casting session or 10.
Will do. I got 4 and 1/2 5 gallon buckets (3/4 full) sifted. Started casting yesterday. I'll cast up till January 4th or so and stop. Pics then.
good luck safe casting
I've been delayed by weather, and will finish up over MLK holiday. Right now I'm sitting on 380 pounds of cast bullets. All are 9mm, and I'm using 133gr moulds. That puts me in the ballpark of 20,000 rounds. Need about 10,000 more for the year.
I live on the street that the old DPRC berm is on. It's still full of lead
What..do you not have a shove or something....lol
Kinda what I was thinking.
I would but my neighbor who actually owns a piece of the berm might get ticked
"You see neighbor, all I want to do is remove all that dangerous lead from your land for you."

You need a shirt that says "We're from the Neighborhood Environmental Protection Service, and we're here to help." Don't forget your wire screen sifter!
This cold weather has slowed me down this year...but as of now I'm north of 400lbs cast. The snow has convinced me to go a few more days, and then I'll talley the total.
That's a lot of casting.
I lack the dedication. I told myself I'd cast like 10k or something to maybe get thru the years 9mm. I think so far I have enough to get thru March. Maybe that's what I'll do Saturday...

As of now
Final tally...583lbs this year.
10 lbs of 95gr 9mm 736 bullets
25 lbs of 50 beuwulf...and 300blk
40 lbs of 158gr 9mm 1772 bullets
508 lbs of 135gr 9mm. 26,340 bullets
THAT is a casting session!
I want to see you pick one of those tubs up with those jaunty plastic handles!
Not a chance. Lol
Getting close to that time of the year. Trying for 35-40,000 this year.
Gearing up myself. Just put about 400lbs into ingots.
I'll sift the berms come next Wednesday, then melt and clean the recovered the lead. That's going to take some time. I should be in full casting mode the week before Christmas.
Wish I had a berm
Me to self last year after seeing your post, "YEAH! I'ma cast enough this winter I can put my pot in storage."
Me in April, "Yeah, hi, Blue Bullets? I need some 135s so I can shoot this weekend. Thanks"
gah. I gotta sort thru lead after getting help in cleaning up the garage and gaining a project vehicle
Been lurking in the Castboolits BST........always a dangerous game. Got a new Mihec copy of the RCBS 150gr .38 SWC HP that I wanna play with in powdercoat. Discovered 2 new bags of Eastwood powder coat have turned to rock.....so I guess humidity in the garage has been high during the Monsoon summer and fall
Good thing about Eastwood powder...they keep making it. lol.
I sort of have to do it. The tires get shot all up and start falling over. Once the wife complains about the back yard I have to break out the shovel. I guess I could stop shooting and fix it all.
Berm is sifted and cleaned...produced 40 monster ingots this year. Time to start casting.
Edited to add...just north of 600 lbs
You motivated me again.
I really need to make a larger capacity "smelter"
4.5 gallons of wheel weights and range scrap turned into this, half a milk crate of muffins
Well I avoided the Christmas Eve rush. Not hard to do smelting lead and casting boolits. On the agenda this fine afternoon were boolits for my 1858 Smith, my 1861 Springfield and 1842 Macon. Gonna do more tomorrow too!
Can yall reuse a batch of botched powder coated bullets?
Yep! I run bad powder coated bullets through my smelter all the time. If they don't turn out the way I like them, remelt and recast
Absolutely. Just treat it like scrap/dirty lead and melt it well ventilated.
Next match Ill bring them for you
Too kind. I thought you cast?
I need to get off my butt and start sorting lead. I got a mess in the garage from the last 'cleanup'
Negative, I get that alot. I got cast bullets then i powder coated them at home
Week 1 done, 7000 bullets cast.
Hit 13,000 ...still working.
18,000 and counting. Did I mention my shoulders and arms are sore...lol.
