I'm dying to know what the classroom portion of the CC permit class will have in it! I'm very excited to find out and its a couple of weeks away yet. Can someone out there give me a hint? I hope it's not "if I tell you, I'll have to kill you" information! Lol. Help me out!

Legal stuff. Lots and lots of legal stuf...
Well, that's good....maybe I should have waited for the class before I asked a couple of my many questions! Lol. Sounds interesting!

Basically this is a revolver, this is a semi, lots of legal stuff...i took my class during hurricane Matthew in the dark, then shot outside during the storm. It was a great experience for sure.

Did your class fee include a NCDOJ Red Book? It's the publication that they teach from. Some classes give it and some offer the option to purchase.

Either way, if included ask them if you can have it before the class, or buy one if they have them for sale if it's not included with the class fee.

Sounds great that it was a same day deal. And during a storm! Mine is over two Sundays....yours sounds much more fun!

No mention of a book. Do I need it?

Millie, here’s a little reading that will put you ahead of the curve. The legalese is kinda dull and somewhat hard to follow at points but it does give some good information to study and maybe raise questions.

Really the classroom part is straightforward and common sense and paying attention will get you thru it easy.
If that's the 40+ pages of nc firearms laws, I've read a lot of it already. Several times! It really is hard going though and sometimes it just gives me a headache or if I keep reading it just makes me cry!.lol

It will be a serious case of butt-itis that will try to distill down that 40+ pages to something somewhat meaningful. The biggest part is on the justified use of force. For that, research the AOJ principle but basically you have the right to use deadly force to prevent grave bodily harm, death, and sexual assault (rape) and it is the threat of these things that justifies your use of force.

Its not anything to be worried about, write down any questions you have now. And be sure to ask them.

Well, I read it on use of force site...much easier reading than gun laws! Thanks for the response!

All depends on who you get. When I took the class we talked about the law, use of force, insurance, first aid, EDC guns and gear, watched surveillance video footage and discussed, then went shooting and qualified with both pistol and revolver.
On the other hand... My BIL went to a different place and spent 2 hours trying to keep from nodding off as his instructor demonstrated 1001 ways to use a flashlight.

Your class sounds interesting. I hope mine is too..I'll soon find out!

The state requires classroom instruction to include at least 6 hours firearms and firearms safety, then at least 2 hours on the law. The shooting qualification is not included in the 8 hours classroom instruction.

Then I'm covered...8 hours in class one Sunday, then the shooting portion, I don't think he specified the time on the range. Shooting is this coming Sunday, and I'm very excited!
