I'm old enough that we were shown DOD films in grade school about what to do "when" the bombs fell. Had drills where we went to the lowest floor in the school, got under a table and assumed the position to kiss our butt goodbye.

Then I joined the Navy, and I was assigned to the Nuclear Weapons department aboard an aircraft carrier, then sent off to several schools on warhead maintenance. In addition to some pretty good duty aboard ship as our spaces were guarded 24/7 by armed Marines, my main takeaway is where to be when the bombs drop.

Ground zero!

If you're old enough you probably were show this in school. Back when you had to earn your gold star on your paper, and there were no prizes for participating.

I'd rather be able to say, "Did you hear/feel something?" The yelling means it was a lot damned closer :D

There are a few buildings downtown WS with that etched into the granite on the outside.

As for the DnC vids - my kids always get a kick out of them, like covering your face with a newspaper is going to help out very much...

Just saw a video last night of a nuclear experiment with pigs that the gov/mil did - they just caught on fire almost instantly. Gross.

Doh..sorry. We were lookin at bombs and trying to bury a study on gun violence. Meanwhile, if you come across the flu, don't get it.
