@frakncylons
@Jerzsubbie

So who would be interested in meeting up for a mountain bike run some time in the near future? We had originally talked about going to North Mecklenburg Park but Sherman's Branch would probably be a better choice because:

1) Sherman's Branch is right off of I-485. It's easy to get to from anywhere, like Tripoli or Beijing
2) North Meck is a jerk that will beat you up and steal your lunch money. Sherman's Branch is a pal that will help you install a new carburetor and offer to mow your lawn while you're out of town.
3) When I crash and break several bones, the access road running through the middle of Sherman's Branch will allow you to drag my body out quickly. Please don't leave me lying in the ditch.

If you are a rider that has skill and endurance you are awesome and will leave us in the dust because we have neither. It takes us about an hour to run the main loop, which is just under eight miles long. If my math is correct, that means we average about 620 mph.

This weekend is looking bad but how about next weekend, weather permitting?

Next weekend is good for me.

I love Sherman and agree it’s a better trail. I think we mentioned N Meck just due to location, but Sherman on a weekend is still good for me.

+1 on having neither skill nor endurance. Make that a +2 on the endurance haha.

My old bones rattle just watching that video.

If it makes you feel any better, riding Sherman's Branch is nothing like that. Well, it can be if you ride every feature and take every jump, but we ride around most of those and try to keep both wheels on the ground.

Not that it helps much, since I still end up face-down in the dirt with cracked ribs and a mouthful of leaves on a pretty regular basis. :oops:

I'm getting back into it after a few years hiatus. Got a new bike to spur me on. That's a 1h15m drive for me from Winston but I'd be willing to do it if my schedule aligned. However, I have a ton of work travel and when I'm not I'm doing a bunch of stuff with the kids (help with youth group at church). Ok, that's all my excuses. Otherwise, I'd be interested. Oh, and I'm fat, and old, and have mitral valve prolapse. Ok, now I think that's all.

Man that’s a lot of excuses! You must’ve been married for a long time:D

If anyone needs some 29er tires, I found a crazy deal but it expires at 330pm today!

Maxxis High Roller II 2.3” or Rekon 2.25” $53/PAIR shipped/tax

Wow, that IS an amazing deal. I might go buy a 29er just to take advantage of it. o_O

Long range forecast for Sunday 5/19 is sunny and 86 with no rain for days before. Which means we'll probably have a hurricane and a typhoon and maybe a snowstorm.

Apparently 24hr means something different to them bs the rest of the world but that’s OK, but away!
They also have DHR II and DHF’s if you can find a way to make Facebook target you with the adds.

I heard @Burt Gummer had some kind of prolapse too!

I’m good for Sunday as well, and may bring 1-2 friends. I usually like to enjoy my sleep so 8a is on the early side, but I can work with that if that’s what works best for everyone.

I’d prefer more like 930.

The Old Folks Home has agreed to let Mrs. Vyntage and I out on Sunday so we will see you all at 9:30. We'll be in a white Mazda SUV.

I'm off all weekend and could meet a fellow out of shape person for a ride at Sherman. Let me know!

I always bring my pump too.

I’ll actually have 3 friends with me since we’ve been meaning to hit Sherman for a while. All gun guys too, just not members.

I’ll be in a grey Tacoma. See you guys tomorrow!

That was a great ride, and a great group of people.

You are a heck of a lot better with names than I am, I would’ve gotten like 4 haha. Tried to fill in the blanks.

Which one of you knew Evan? Last name O’Henry, right?

Is he a member on here?

Evan is a friend of mine, not a member. How do you know him??
He worked the yacht that was owned by the same company that had the party buses I drove for 5 years. (That’s how I keep him saved in my phone). I run into him every once in awhile, usually at a gun show.
