CFF June 50 yard Benchrest Challenge

Good shooting so far guys! I expect we will see at least two 100's by month's end!

Looks like @VA_GENTLEMAN's 97/5x is still holding the top spot with @ECNC in second with a 97/1x and @Guardianconcealment just a point behind him with a 96. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I'd hate to award this huge payout to the wrong shooter ;)

I was not sure on the bottom 4th target over if it was a 7 or an eight. Looked like it may be an eight, but I will leave it up to you guys.

Had a good session today. I am new at this and am getting my system and ammo down. New drum throne, Caldwell rock br, and protektor +1 rear bag.
10/22 lvt, 2 stage kid (1lb/.5lb),
muller apv 4.5-14 x 40mm set on 14 power.

Shot 16 targets and tested the following ammo. In order of best to worst.

Worst target of the day and any days ever shot from this gun....eley target 53 0x

I was surprised with your Eley target ammo. I shoot this all the time. Even the other day I used Target on one target and Match on the other. Eley Target shot 95/4x. I don't think your rifle liked the Eley Target at all. Can not get over the difference

Looks like an 8 to me actually. Can you post a pic of just that box? Perhaps we can get a closer look that way. All it has to do is touch the 8 and it scores an 8.

I was shocked also...

That was my first thought looking at it from my iPhone.

Well I'm definitely not in the running but here it is. My best to date. Considering this was only the second time I have shot this rifle ( now have 200 rounds through her:) ) and the first for me shooting with a bag and bipod and my first time shooting prone I think I did pretty good!! Lol she seems to really like the agulia super extra. The best 5 shot group so far you could cover with a dime at 50yds. Going to keep at it! It's alot of fun :) :) :)

Setup

Savage B22 fv-sr
BSA sweet 22 6x18x40 with sunshield
Cheap bipod and wiebad bag
Cheap tarp and $9 sleeping bag for ground cover :)
Agulia super extra ammo
85° with a slight wind

I think that with the heat and humidity coming up this week, if you can get a time with no wind... Someone could clean this 100-10x. 22's love hot and humid....

This is good stuff!
I believe four of us are getting together Wed morning to give it a shot...three of whom haven't posted an entry, yet. I'll be tickled if I score >80. IMG_9279.GIF

Alright, here goes nothing. I met @hlpressley at RCWA this morning. Spent a little time at the 25yd pistol bay shooting a couple handguns I'd recently acquired. Also let him try out a couple suppressed firearms...pretty sure he said it was the first time he'd actually shot one. Glock 21 with Osprey 45, M&P 22 Compact with Warlock, and 9mm SBR with Octane 45. I had my 10yo with me and he tested out a few as well.

@Wahoo95 and @Bailey Boat showed up about the time we were switching to 22LR rifles. I shot a couple rounds of 22LR through my RAR, just to make sure it was close. My son also shot a mag through it. Then the three of us moved over to a 50yd range and let Wahoo & Bailey Boat start shooting at the 25.

I have a Ruger American Rimfire 22LR Compact with 18" threaded barrel. Scope is a Bushnell AR Optics Drop Zone-22 BDC Rimfire, 2-7Xx32 (so I know I'm underpowered in the optics department compared to most of you). Just hoped my 20/13 vision (tested ~3 weeks ago) and 7X would be enough to at least hit the targets...which is also why I posted earlier that I'd be tickled to score over 80. :D

Only ammo I tried was CCI SV, and I used my Silencerco Sparrow.

Here are my test shots...which gave me hope. 8" target, with bullseye ~1.5":

I'll post my targets up high to low. And I'll post all seven of them, to hopefully help those that are concerned about what their scores may be feel OK.

Best score was a pair of 84s. I believe the top one is better because it had the potential of being a pretty decent score...except for the 0 on the 5th shot. Easily should've been 90+, but is it what it is.

My son tried it twice. Zero coaching from me. Scored a 19 and 34. Although, I failed to mention the two sight-in targets on the left side, and he hit a 9 once on each sheet...so I'm comfortable calling it a 28 and 43, especially since there's one target on each sheet without a hole at all.

Here's a shot of him on the line:

Be interested in seeing what Eddie and Bill did...

Maybe I can try again before the month is over. Suppressor and/or ammo options are plentiful.

Not the best, but not terrible. I think #2 and #9 might actually be 10's, but I scored them 9's.

Great idea, Harold. I'll head to the range again this weekend with a larger supply of blammo!

ETA: I forgot to write it on the target, but the ammo was Eley Edge.

Happy to see everyone enjoying it.

@Studentofthegun I know you and @Chilly636 have something for this! Rimfire doesn't always have to be shot at the speed of light! ;)

Yeah if I get a chance I will drag the CZ laser beam out of the safe and take it to the range. My dance card has just been really full. Might be end of the month before I can manage it.

I am heading back out Thursday morning to see if I can do any better. Also want to try out some other 22 rifles that I have and a rear bag.

I have a Ruger 10/22 with a 6x24x56 scope ( I have never shot it like this just put the scope on there for fun). It's bone stock besides being in a thumbhole stock. Might bring it out too to see what she can do :)

I have too much pride to post the target I shot this afternoon. I'm going to blame the $40 Simmons scope I have on my 10/22 because every time I got a good zero I'd switch to the competition target and I'd be off by 3-4". I tried 3 different types of ammo and even had someone else shoot it to make sure it wasn't me. That scope looses zero if I breathe on it wrong.

Well todays shooting attempt was just bad. Something was lose. Using the sight in target would shoot a bull and the next shot would jump over an inch. Happened several times. Had someone else try who is a much better shot then myself and it was the same problem. Came home and checked everything and could not find anything lose. Re-torqued everything including scope rings. Will try it again Friday or Saturday. And on top of all that the yellow flies were biting big time.

Ya'll want to watch something I discovered the other day, my 50 yard range isn't 50 yards!!! It's 51.5 yards and I can't move the target frame or the bench. Does that mean I get a handicap?? LOL.....

Measured today when I was at the range. Ours is 162 feet. So it is closer to 50 meters I guess
