So, put together the 7.62x39 pistol that I posted in the pistol thread and did some test firing- no bueno!
First 4 rounds or so of steel case ammo fired and ended up with the bolt locked up. After some light, strategic taps it came loose.
Thought maybe it was lacquer induced from the Wolf ammo, cleaned it up good and put away until later.
Second attempt, 3 rounds of yugo brass cased- now, it hasn't properly cycled yet and with the brass ammo it didn't either- but I was able to cycle the bolt and eject the brass. One more round of steel- locked up tighter than a tick.
This time I'm looking to see if I can tell if the bolt itself isn't rotating/unlocking. Can't really see. Bolt seems fine, even the lugs.
This time after cleaning, I took some pictures because I can zoom them to better see what might be happening.
W/o much more ado, see the pictures and tell me if I need to polish the chamber-
BCA barrel that I bought through Classic, as it was pretty much only one available at the time.
Faxon bolt in a Anderson bolt carrier.

Thoughts?

That hack job on the feed ramps of the barrel extension look horrific.
I don't disagree- I can say that I don't use a dremel or something like one on chambers/feed ramps etc.
I did say it was a BCA barrel too, lol.

ETA- it seems to feed fine, just not able to get it to extract a fired casing.

I’d call BCA, maybe they’ll send ya a new barrel

That chamber is the roughest one I've seen. Looks like it's not been finished.
I agree- the Kak Valu-line 308 barrel I bought for the other pistol looks great compared to this one.
I'll probably try calling BCA but I'm not holding my breath since I bought it thru Classic- maybe I'll be proven wrong.
Kak did send me a new gas block after I sent them a picture of the first one with the roll pin hole drilled in the wrong location [emoji2962]

If they do not replace the barrel, perhaps lightly polishing it may help?
If it wasnt "finished" perhaps that would be enough to get it where it needs to be.

Im betting it is the cases expanding, grabbing the rough walls, and then not letting go, and since the steel isnt as elastic, it is worse then the brass about gripping the walls.

Definitely not laquer induced. That doesn’t really happen.

Man, that barrel is rough! I’d both call them, and do a light polish of chamber and try and attend to the feedramps while I was in there.

I looked over BCA' website for warranty info- it shows they'll warranty inside of 30 days bought from them (I've had it longer than that) and won't warranty anything sold by a retailer supplied by them ( I got it from Classic).
I emailed them anyway asking for a replacement.

At the same time, I found a 7.5 inch barrel on Jose's site. So I emailed them and asked who was the manufacturer- they answered this morning that it's either Double Star or Mossberg.
So I waited the rest of the day and not hearing anything from BCA, I ordered another barrel. If they do warranty it, I guess I'll have to build another AR, lol.

Forgot to answer the brass question- no, didn't keep them since they're berdan primed.

So I think it could be a few things, yes the chamber looks rough but I do not think its causing the issue. I would look at the bolt and the face of the lugs first. The fcae of the lugs in not the side as shown in your image. Not the bolt face. I see the wear in your image is not uniform and is heavy at the 1 oclock lug. I would keep the barrel out of the upper and insert the bolt, see if the bolt spins within the barrel extension. I think the barrel extension is the issue. It looks like a 5.56mm barrel extension thats been jacked up by a low skilled worker.

Anyhow, if the bolt spins freely, good. Now the next question is the back and forth of the bolt when in the locked position. If the bolt is LOCKED meaning the bolt lugs are behind the barrel extension lugs does the bolt move back and forth "not spin" if the bolt moves back and forth you got a out of spec bolt or bad barrel shank threading. I would lean on the barrel shank threading.

If I'm understanding you correctly, BCA only has a 30 day warranty, and has zero warranty on their own product if sold elswhere???

Even though they're 15 minutes away, a customer, and employees are neighbors, thats enough to keep me from buying anything BCA.

That's how I understood it- it's on their website.

Update**
So, they sent me a return label and I shipped it back. Today it returned and the explanation email said they test fired it and found nothing wrong ( [emoji1787])
The chamber at first glance looks noticably smoother, I'll have to see if I can find my endoscope and take a picture...
Oh well, my new 7.5in barrel arrived today too, so it's getting mounted first and tested.
