Charter Arms Pistols

Yep, I had a Charter Arms .44, wish I hadn't sold it. Mine was an older one, certainly worth the price

I can only speak on the Charter Arms .44 Special revolver, a buddy of mine owned one years ago and I think it was called the “bulldog pug” or something like that.

When I first saw it I turned my nose up at it because everything I ever heard about the gun (at the time) was negative, I really, really tried my best to pick it apart but that dang .44 Special was in fact special, it was a pussycat to shoot, it was accurate and the single action trigger was actually very good, the double action was heavy and “clunky” but acceptable for a carry gun.

If I ran across an early Charter .44 Special today, I’d buy it without question.

As an aside the same guy turned me on to the early Rossi revolvers and my wife liked his .38 Snubnose so much we got her a nickeled version of the same gun.

Yeah, the .44 Special is a pretty awesome round. Very mild recoil, very accurate, and very fun to shoot.

The .41Mag nerd in me is interested in their .41, but I doubt it'd be much fun to shoot with legit magnum loads. No way I'd run any of those loads I brought down to Billy's through it. I'm sure it's more than safe, I just wouldn't wanna hang on to it.

I've owned several CA products over the years. Picked a 67-69' production 3" Bulldog in the late 80s. Still have that gun for woods roaming. First two loaded with Speer shot capsules then next three 240 gr Lee SWC homecast. DIL has a 2" Pink Lady .38 SPL, never seen any issues out of that gun in over a decade. Also had one of their AR-7 back in the 80s. Won't mind getting one of the .41 Mag Pugs too as I'm a .41 nut.

I've got one of the newer production Pitbulls in 45ACP and I like it. Haven't shot it a lot, but other than having to put a bit of blue locktite on a screw, it's been good.

I have a CA snubby in .38 spl and it’s pretty much a copy of the S&W airweight revolver that my mom carries. I keep it in my work travel gear. Good little blaster...dependable and pretty accurate.

Are they worth the Money? There is a 45 Colt that I would love to get for Conceal and Carry.
I have the 9, 40 and 45 (acp) Pitbulls. I bought them simply to have another way to shoot the same ammo I already have.

We’re in the same town...you’re welcome to try one out even though they’re a different caliber than you’re after.

If you decide to part with this please, let me know. Billy
Sorry Billy. It is now in the possession of granddaughter number two. I've got seven grandkids. I'm outfitting them with rifles, pistols, ammo and gear.

Saw a rather well-worn example at the Raleigh show today. If I recall , sub $250-ish. Dealer had a number of "very experienced" revolvers.

The one I picked up was in great condition. It had a very faint turn line and the bluing was in great condition.
