I finally have my 6.5 dialed in.

Was struggling to find a good load for it, but wasn't getting any better than 1" at 100yds. Even with factory Match ammo. I had one particular load that the chrono kept saying should have been very good...Std Deviation 4-5 and ES 10-12fps consistently over 5o Rounds and 3 range trips.

This was with a Savage FCP-SR with their Accustock.

So I ordered up an MDT HS3 chassis and picked up a PRS buttstock from a member here. The action dropped right in, no fitting at all. Torqued it to spec and headed out.

To say I'm happy with the result is an understatement.

This is a 10 shot group, including 1 clean cold bore and 1 called flyer. If you throw those 2 shots out, it's an 8 round group at .417". With the flyer, it's at .516"

Now to stretch it out!

The current Remington 700 stocks found on their mass market guns with "varmint" bbl are absolute junk. Really just unbelievable. I had a Brux 308 bbl with 500 rnds thru it laying around doing nothing and my gunsmith had an MDT chassis stock he wanted to get rid of. I bought a 700 action from Buds and my smith put it all together. He had to add some heavy duty bedding compound under the rear tang of the action to get the whole thing to set right in the MDT chassis but man that thing will shoot. 5 shots inside of 3/4" at 100yds with my handloads. Rings steel out to 1000 no problem.

I could tell such a huge difference in my model 10 when I put a good stock on it. Night and day difference. Nice group!

Says the guy with a Manners stock jur to keep his Surgeon action from getting cold.

True story...he threw the rifle together on he tailgate of his truck and zero the rifle on the first stage. Think he still cleared 75% of the shooters that day. I still laugh thinking about it.

There's people that get to caught up in the matches (have to do xyz in cdba order) and there there's Wyatt's way.....just send it.

Believe the bullet. They can't lie. Lol

Yup. True story too.

I just got the LSS version in today for my 6.5G.
Looking forward to testing it out once my rings show up.
What height rings & what scope are you using?

I have a Vortex PST on it now mounted in a DNZ 1-piece mount that gives me just a few mm of clearance.

I a Burris 5-25x50 on the way that I'm still settling on a mount for.

I like the HS3 over the LSS because it has a longer forearm section. Easier to use on a blind window or putting a bipod further out.

Yeah I liked the looks of HS3 too but LSS is only one that fits the Howa mini action.
What model Burris is that?
You have a pic of your setup?
