it's a plinker and don't care if I scratch it. And yes it's PSA/Anderson "junk" as I have seen it described. So far has cost me a whopping $500. That is complete with optic and BCG. God bless Murica!

PSA EPT MOE kit in a locally sourced Andy receiver - around $180 total with tax, shipped, with no FFL fee ;)
PSA nitride 1/8 nato upper (pic showed a solid diameter barrel, of course they sent a stepped one...) $160
had the MBUS and riser, free
Weaver Microdot $75
Toolcraft BCG $85

I might keep this one for a while and take a class.

LOL.

I have standards. Poly lowers are for 22s, Bear Creek (not Moore Machine) is a ditch between Oakboro and Albemarle, I seriously considered one of those cheap $20 red dots before I found this Weaver last night on Wally clearance aisle.

And the UTG stock cost more than the Magpul one when purchased in a PSA build kit altogether. $129 shipped for stock, grip, tube, buffer, nickle coated trigger and LPK?? that's dirt cheap.

Guess I left off a few things -

I already had the charging handle with the el cheapo X latch. It sucks, it's in the way, and I'm probably gonna get a decent one asap.

I ordered a super duper el cheapo VISM aka NCStar drop-in rail with mlok, and it looks like I may not throw it away upon delivery just yet.
If it sucks, look for it in the BST for more than I paid for it sooner than later :D

I was going to say, I like the build but would upgrade the handguard. If the rail you have coming sucks balls, I'd recommend the Magpul Moe SL. It's a quality piece of kit for cheap. Plus it looks good too.

I had the magpul moe handguard on the last one, I liked it but wanted the MLOK attachment system. I guess all the new ones have it now? I will probably just end up cutting the FSB into a gas block only and FF rail.

Check this out - it puts the UTG Super Slim to shame as far as el cheapness goes. I figure if a handguard attaches in 3 places to the barrel nut, then it's GTG unless it's made from 'zamak' or whatever Bryco-Jennings are made of.

I have often thought about putting together the cheapest AR I could and running the hell out of it, see how long it lasts. Just cause, you know, I can.

Hey, works for the military :D
I chuckle when people throw 'mil-spec' around like it's the holy grail. They spec it out because that's the cheapest they can get it to work at a certain failure rate acceptable. Like any other spec.

with today's materials making a gun designed to be high-tech in the 50s, I really don't think you can go wrong. Now an AK on the other hand.....must be built and forged from the bowels (and metals) of hades.

so you're saying AKs are made from the devils shit?

yes. and forged by his goat-humping demons. Seems to work well ;)

explains why American AKs pretty much suck ass. Not enough goat humpers (but that's changing every day)

For a decent plinking AR, nothing wrong with Anderson lowers and PSA uppers, IMHO.
yep. Esp ones that are gonna get a cerakote or paint job. Only knock on the Anderson besides someone ones a cooler rollstamp (like the spider that is actually 2 phallus') is the thin anodizing job.

just for gits and shiggles, started looking at what was new in poly lowers today after owning a new frontier back in 2014, looks like Tennesee Arms Company fixed what was broken with most of them.
Brass inserts in the buffer threads, and they offer FDE, magpul colors, etc. Might be something to check out later if I'm putting together a lightweight. http://www.tnarmsco.com/

Looks like @bigfelipe 's epic rant about glocks and AR's has hit home in todays AR market. He surmised that if one were to not own one Glock and one AR, at the very least, than one was an idiot.
It has come to pass, that they are so cheap, that to not own one is idiocy, indeed. Madness!

First AR I had I put an UTG Pro super slim on it. It was a nice handguard. Served me well. Still looked new when I took it off. But by then, several years of shooting AR's, I somehow became more of a cork sniffer. Chenged out the UTG for something that cost more, didn't perform better, but was a little lighter. Someone else has put the UTG to good service, so it's still going!

After having an AR sbr'd, I set out to build a cheap 10-12" upper for the kind of 3gun I wanted to shoot at the time (Factory division).
Since I sucked at it, frankly, and was new to it, I didn't want to throw a lot of money at it. Anderson slick upper (42$ sale), 12.5" 5.56 BA barrel (94$ on sale), ALG 12" mlok (95$ sale) threw a fixed GB I had laying around. Ended up shooting waaaay better than the other uppers I had with more expensive barrels. Man, it shoots good. And I shoot crap Tula at all the lost brass paper matches. I don't even care what crap ammo goes through it, because it was cheap. But it ended up better than the some of its parts. Now I have a rifle barrel that I think will shoot better, but it isn't super expensive either.

I likely won't start spending the big money on rifles until my skills get to the point of making a difference. So, never, most likely.

Behold the Cheaperator AF model mark I

Sweet. Looks like it will do you fine... If I had to critique it, I'd say lose the retard vertical grip.:p Friends don't let friends go full retard. o_O You never go full retard. You'll find it doesn't help your shooting anyway, unless you just back it up closer to the receiver and use it as a rear hand stop. It's not a free-floated setup so you won't use it to brace/pod for long shots anyhow. It'll throw off your POI flexing against it.

Also, I've had a couple of those lights. Don't plan on it working when you need it to. It's airsoft quality at best. The connections and switch are shite. They suck under recoil. I tossed all but one. It's just a flashlight I keep in the safe for looking in the back corners now... If you don't want to pony up TLR-1 money, look into a StreamLight Pro-Tac 1L or 2L and a ring mount for it. They're damn near bulletproof and the warranty is amazing.

Other than that man, go shoot it and let us know how it runs. Have fun!

Just call me an idiot, I don't own any Glocks. Don't plan to. Nothing against them, they are great for what they are, I just don't have any love for them.

I actually own two and have no love for them either!

There are many, many excellent choices besides Groks.

This badass has utilized the vertical grip whilst kicking ass globally.

Yeah I just hung all that shite on there to be tacticool like all the whiz kids. A marine buddy gave me that KAC grip and it's laid in the box, along with the original Grip Pod that now lives on my crossbow :D
Gonna swap it out for a Harris knockoff bipod from the same ppl that make that freefloat tube. I need to write a review of that VISM rail, it's pretty darn nice for what it costs. MLOK just works.

As far as that dookie light, I've had it mounted on lots of pistols and a shotgun for years, and it's gotten dropped and dinged the case and she still is ticking. Got a lifetime supply of CR123 duracells too. This one switches acoss the body like a crossbolt safety instead of a push button switch. But yeah in the end it's just a POS old NCStar also that I probably got on a gun trade mystery box. I have had a few of those AIM Sports lights and yeah they are total crap on anything besides a 22LR.

I'll probably mount a 1" light setup and put a Fenix on it. Again, it's a plinker. I have plenty of HD guns.

This is the first 1 in 8 twist gun that I've owned after owned a 7 and a 9 twist. looking to get a bit more out of the 62-70gr range of my reloads. I really like 64gr BSB Noslers but I just can't get them cheap anymore.

I am 100% happy with my PSA build. Cost me $590 all together. I put the money where it matters.

I have an EPT on mine too. Feels much better than their standard trigger for $10 more.

I just got a MMC AR from a guy when I bought all his stockpile of ammo. Stripped off all the magpull goodies and put cheap stuff back on. I want to do a rattle can pinestraw camo job on it. @Ikarus1 we can have our own junkyard wars shootoff.

I put a PTAC upper on a cheap lower that I had, along with the EPT. Shot 2" groups at 100 with XM193 using a TRS-25 RDS. I figure I'd step up the game a bit, but honestly I have less money in this one. It's also MUCH lighter. That PTAC had a huge heavy barrel.

This trigger has zero creep, but it's still a milspec pull weight, I'm guessing around 6-7lbs. May have to throw in some JP springs to get it to where I like.

Sounds good man just let me know when and where. I can't wait til the weather gets cooler, because as of right now I don't want to leave the house :D

Had to modify el cheapo's RDS already. Let the bolt slap back into battery made the dot cut off.
I had a sneaking suspicion that this would happen, based on Amazon reviews.
Thankfully a reviewer posted the easy fix with a picture, which was to bend the battery contact back to where it would make contact along the side.
Worked like a charm. Think this thing may end up on my AK now.

Updated pic with 3x magnifier and Mlok AFG

Guess it was too light and so I added more weight [emoji6]

Swapped back to TRS25 and moved everything one rail slot back. I need a better red dot under magnification since the TRS25 dot has some anomalies that doesnt show up at 1x. All of it works.

The Ebay 2 port brake has yet to be tested and I need a slimmer washer.
