Choose your melee weapon for the apocalypse....

Don't have a pic handy and the spear is in the shop buuuut I took a length of 1" pipe and split it at an angle about 1' down from one end making basically a tube spear. I tempered it and then flat sharpened it so you can touch it up on a big whetstone. I fit it with a sturdy broom handle and it makes holes in anything you poke with it, be pretty tough to stitch up. Lol

Shocked he didn’t need a horse with him to tow that huge pair he must of had.

For many years now, I’ve wanted a mace. Something about smacking someone who desperately needs it upside the head with a spiked ball, just sounds, appealing.

Ahem, that would be a morning star to which you refer!

Snowrooster there seems to have snagged a "Gnome hook-hammer."

I'm a fan of reach weapons, so a glaive might work for me:

and, naturally, a good dagger for close-in work:

Isn’t that the one with the ball at the end of the chain? I’d be afraid of hitting myself with it. Maybe that’s the flail I’m thinking of with the chain?

I feel like if I had to travel light, a sugar cane machete could make a good melee weapon as well as a handy tool. And you can carry it and swing it around for a while without getting too worn out.
Picked up a similar one from an antique shop in Hilo. looked like somebody had replaced the original handle and then wrapped it in some kind of sinew. It was very rusty, but my father took on the project of removing all the rust and then put some kind of black oxide finish on it.

I do like that pike hammer though.

The Iklwa, short spear. Mine would have a removable head that could be carried as a dagger.

You can make one of those pretty cheap, SOG makes a spearhead with a removable handle, you can carry it like a knife or attach a threaded pole and away you go:

I have a knife in progress in calling a post apocalyptic recurve tanto.

It is forged and rough ground. I need to clean it up a bit, thermocycle, and quench then finish it out. 80CRV2 steel so it should be pretty tough.

It's the one on the left.

I have a razor sharp Viking sword and a spear. My Dad didn’t believe in a dull blade on anything. His camp axe is also very sharp.
