While the injured was still asleep, I assembled this stew and got it on the grill. I'm going to go low and slow, around 5-6 hours and using the snake method. This is the first time I've done this stew and first time doing any stew on a grill. We'll check back in a few hours and see what we have. Wish me luck.

Looks good so far. I guess I'll google the snake method...?

I hate to google.....;)

we are going to demand an after/ before devour pic

Snake method-place a ring of charcoal around the outer area of the grill but do not complete the circle. Place a few, 10-12, pieces of lit charcoal on one end. These will light the ones touching and slowly work it's way around the circle.
This allows a small amount of charcoal lit at one time keeping the temperature down and lasting for hours.

I checked it at about 3 hours an it's simmering nicely. Temp is running about 260 degrees which is about perfect. It's looking and smelling good. I'm going to let it go about 2 more hours and see what we got. Stay tuned.

OK, it's been about 2 more hours and we have stew. I just had a bowl and man, it's good! I'm not bragging, I'm just telling the truth. Like I said at the beginning, this was my first time making this. Next time, and there will be a next time, I'll add more liquid. I used V8 juice for my liquid and I should have used more. I used about half of a 46 oz bottle and should have used all of it. That would be the only thing I would change. It turned out very good and best of all, it was simple to make.

Nice job. You can always add more liquid as it cooks or towards the end. I am going to do some cajun venison stew next week. I'll post it up.

That looks down right tasty. I'm going to have to try that.

I do something similar except I sit it on the woods stove all day. Man, ain't nothin any better than sitting there in a comfortable rocking chair, drinking brown liqker, watching the snow fall with a good book and a good stew on the stove! If this cold don't keep me from going to the cabin tomorrow, that's exactly what I'm going to do! Looks Good Geez!

Looks very good! If it is too thick... like CZ said, just add more liquid around the finish cook time. Beef / chicken stock works well. If you happen to add a little too much liquid, just call it stoop. lol
