I do not clean my barrels very often. Maybe run a bore snake through it a couple times with GunZilla (https://superzilla.us/product-category/gunzilla/) on it the first pass.
Now it is time to give it a good cleaning and run some anti-cooper solution through it. Not sure what brand to use. GunZilla claims to remove the lead, carbon and copper.
Any suggestions?

Has your accuracy or velocity degraded? If not, why clean it?

Mike Sexton, he’s won a bunch of LR comps, recommended butchs bore shine only when accuracy and velocity suffer.

Tim, I have 200 to 250ish rounds through each barrel (308, 6.5 CM, 204 Ruger and coming close to it on the bolt action 223) and have not put a cleaning rod down the barrel in over a year. I am not sure if the accuracy has suffered any or it was me changing around different bullets and powders. All the reading I done on GunZilla have been very favorable and mention about removing carbon and copper.

I’m just going by what the pros told me at a class I took. I’ve certainly seen, heard and read a bunch of different approaches. Who’s to say which is right, eh?

For me ... BORE TECH ELIMINATOR is my go to bore cleaner for both carbon and copper. If it’s real bad (like I bought a used firearm) I’ll use Eliminator and if stuff still is there I’ll run BORE TECH CHAMELEON to get that stubborn stuff out.

If I use Chameleon I do make sure to CLP the barrel (and if it’s not going to be fired soon a little heavy on the CLP). Also a couple of my rifles take a couple extra fouling shots to settle back in when stripping all the copper out with it.

I will second the recommendation for Bore Tech products. They work very well on copper.
