Coffee Snobs - Aeropress?

What store did you find that coffee? I'm ready to try some. :)

I used to buy it at Kroger, but I think Lowes Foods has it. Maybe Food Lion.

Been experimenting with the inverted method. I think it's far superior, in that I'm not getting coffee draining through the filter while it's still steeping. I dig it.

Yeah, I did the regular method once, saw the coffee draining prematurely, and switched to inverted.

How long are you steeping? I just pour in water to about halfway, stir for 10 sec, fill with water, attach filter, flip and start pressing. No waiting between steps, and the pressing takes ~1 min. So total steeping time is less than 2min.

I set a 60sec timer then push. Thinking about letting it go a little longer though.

I usually stir halfway, fill, let it sit for a minute or two, press for about 15-20 seconds. It helps if the grind is coarser so that it doesn't get bitter on you. I'm not sure on this, but I think if you have a finer grind you need to let it steep for less time? Sounds right but I'm no expert.

I usually steep for 90 seconds

Just to report back on this, I am loving my Aeropress coffee. Way mo betta than drip coffee, plus I liberated counter space by getting rid of the coffeemaker. Just waiting for the ground coffee to run out so I can try switching to beans and grinding. And buying a grinder. Though I suppose an intermediate step would be to use the grinder at the grocery store.

Not much in the way of decaf bean choices at Harris Teeter though. :(

I'd buy your own before you use the store grinder.... It's ground all manner of coffee beans and most likely never been cleaned.

Finding good decaf beans is not so easy. Counter culture is pretty good, most often I use Illy but you've gotta get them from the Internet.

BTW, any of you quit coffee and just drink cafe (espresso)? I really do prefer the taste, but am so accustomed to the volume of coffee that I go back and forth.

Reviving this one. Just thought I'd share that I have joined the Moustache coffee club in order to try new fresh coffee. It is a pretty neat deal. They source beans from around the world, and choose a new single origin every week. You can subscribe to different plans depending on how much you need, and you can do a free trial to try it out. The best part is that they roast and ship on the same day. When you get it there is actually a drink after date, because it usually gets to your house before the optimum drinking time (4-20 days after roast according to them). I've been impressed with it so far, last shipment was beans from Rwanda. This weeks is from Brazil with notes of strawberry, sugar cane, and floral. Supposed to be able to grind some tomorrow based on the drink after date, which is perfect as today I made my last cup of the prior shipment.
