Coming food crisis...

You can speak spanish? Can you make good corn tortillas and tacos?
I probably could if I still bothered to cook....lol.....lately, I don't.

We spent a decade in Mexico in the 60s. So my Spanish comes slowly, and I have to ask people to slow down. I can eventually dredge it up, though. In about 20012 or so, I had to ask the Spanish professor at Sandhills CC to let me take Span. I and II in the same semester, and I asked in Spanish...and I got to do the 2 classes together!

I need more canned goods, and a way to pump water by hand from the well, like at Granny's house, and lots more EverClear....it's good for fuel and sanitizing and drinking! And more solar power packs, got to have a phone. I have a river nearby, too, so I can bathe.
Phone?
No power for 30 days and I think mobile services would be gone too.

You have an experience with this? I've been wanting a way to manually get water out of the well besides a bucket and a rope.

No. Just saw installs/reviews on theWranglerstar and Engineer775 channels, which prompted my interest.

You ever kilt one? Could you do it if necessary?

Have suppressed SBR will travel...
House is in a development but outside city limit so will harvest in the backyard if necessary :)
Down from where the deer congregate is lake Wylie.

If the shtf, how long do you think the animals will last ? Not F---ing long.

Wild animals? I think they're safe until the farms and dog pounds are depleted. But honestly, I'm trying to wrap my mind around that scenario.

Yes, I mean the Wild. People will decimate domestic first. But with the amount of people trying to get the WILD after that they won't last long. We have just gotten game populations up within the last 70 years. Would not take long to reverse the trend.

Given the skill set of the average urban dweller the biggest risk will be to other hungry urbanites as people let fly at anything that moves...

Once THAT crowd thins out, the folks with actual hunting skills will thin the critters out pretty hard, but I'd stay clear of the early crap sandwich that will occur...

Agree 100%.

A good bit of folks only know food from grocery stores, sitting down and having it brought to them or drive-throughs. Harvesting an animal that walks the earth or swims in the water, then having to butcher the game is a skillset lacking in the majority of the population. Now, compound that with the day and age in which we live...”instant gratification”.

Some folks will expect to get a line wet and immediately start catching fish. Some folks will run willy-nilly (Greek term for “haphazard” or “impulsive”) through the countryside or woodlands, expecting to bag squirrels, rabbits or deer with the new .380 they just bought last year. Get a bunch of folks in the same vicinity doing that and the only thing that’s gonna get bagged is people.

Those simple, backwoods folks that so many seem to be keen on poking fun at will be the ones that come out on the other side alright.

Hank was right.

So.....no to the .380 for squirrel?

But you're right.

Reminds me of a time some friends and I went tent camping one weekend. There was a fishing contest that Saturday. The lake was full of idiots running around in their motor boats that nobody was able to catch a thing because of the disturbance.

Nobody?
I bet some of those guys in boats that you blamed for your inability to catch fish caught limits.
