Competitive Shooting Goals for 2017

My goal is to keep having fun and keep improving. Shoot some ZSA and maybe a few 2 gun matches. Maybe get back to a few 3gun matches at Woodys, I really miss those.

Also, want to get classified and try more USPSA. Still on the fence as to production/limited. Want to shoot limited but I am a bit reluctant to get into .40!

40 is an excellent gaming round. Or go minor, 9mm and shoot all or dang near all alphas. 5 points is 5 point no matter the power factor

My goal is to actually start learning/practicing the fundamentals. The few times I have shot, I think I was there to get everyone else's score up and to give everyone a break because my times were so slow.

I need to learn more about this gaming that you speak of. Specifically that done with a .40!

We shall talk on new years eve.

ZSA is seriously considering starting an ICORE Club, really want to hear some honest feedback on attendance. Thanks

I need some bugs worked out and some equipment but I'm down. You usually have some wheel guns at your ZSA matches too. Maybe open up your "Heavy Metal" division to include revos firing 6. Sure they might not be firing a "man's caliber" but it might lure more and more over to the dark side.

very good point, will give it serious consideration, thanks very much for the input!!

I need to get back to the 2 gun rimfire at DPRC, I used to do pretty good there, but time has not been on my side. I would also like to try the ZSA matches and at least one Bug match to see what they are like.
to achieve goals? Practice, and maybe a little better time management on may part so I can get loose to shoot more.

Want to beat John Z at one of his zombie matches. Also want to shoot a ZSA match with my Revo.

Try USPSA with Slacker and NKD and hope to reach B in limited.

John Z Slacker NKD
Beat John with your revo and you've really accomplished something... Hell beat him with a semi while he shoots a revo for that matter...

Go over to the revolver forum and shame the wheel gun nerds into actually shooting a match!

There's quite a few of them here. I know Slacker would be interested as would I.

It wasn't easy to accept Brian. I am grateful for the time that I invested in IDPA. The game has taught me so many things, including that no matter how bad you are, if you work at something you can and will improve. IDPA and my overall passion for the game gave me a reason to shoot, a reason to practice, and a reason to take shooting seriously. I attribute my ability to shoot pistols accurately to time I spent shooting and practicing for IDPA. That is a skill that I am extremely proud of and hope to always retain. However, the unenviable time has arrived and it's time to move on to something that will push me to improve. My IDPA membership as well as my Safety Officer certification will expire in the Spring of 2017. Not saying that I will never shoot another match that uses the IDPA format, it just isn't my preference anymore. Look forward to joining you in Limited major in 2017!

Too soon?

This year my goals in USPSA-PISTOL are to be classified in every division, 4 to go. Also it so make high A class in Limited or Open and shoot 80% or higher at a major match.

Also I want to get back into long range. Haven't had much time w/ the new addition.

1. Actually shoot a match again
2. Photograph a USPSA Area/National match
3. Get a quarterly competition magazine up and running.

The cost of meeting my goals.
I've been doing those exercises and they work pretty good for the most part. I've been fighting Tennis elbow in both arms for 2 years. Those exercises completely control my left arm, but the right arm is touch and go. Any time I take a break from lifting weights it flares up. My wife had surgery in November, and I was forced to miss the gym...and boom, the pain flared up. I'll still be doing those exercises. The right arm just was so bad you could see it swelling. Silly arm doesn't understand I've got got a goal to meet.

About half way through, where are you at? Did you hit your goals? What adjustments are you making to get there?

Awesome thread-somehow I missed it!

My goal for this year was/is to make master in IDPA. Plan was to dry fire 4+ times a week and live fire practice once before each match. Haven't missed so far. Was a marksman at the beginning of the year. I'm now qualified expert, missing master by a stinking 7 seconds.

I know I can work it down. Feel like I'm on my way to hitting my goal. At H2O I've been shooting top 3 each month instead of the top 15 I was before. Even got the W one month! A little work really does go a long way!

I'd love to shoot a ICORE match. Like Slappy McTrigger will need to acquire some gear. So you can give so advice for a new ICORE shooter I would appreciate the help John.

1) Become a solid and consistent C class (50%+) Single Stack shooter.
2) Become a solid and consistent C class (55%+) Revolver shooter.
3) Finish in the top 25% of the field shooting Single Stack and Revolver Division at least once.

I'm happy with how things have gone for me thus far in 2017. My goal is to place in the top 25 at the NSSF World Rimfire Championship in the Open division. Also hope to place in the top 15 for Limited. Those are extremely ambitions goals. Too ambitious, more than likely.

Back in August I won both Open and Limited at the Pennsylvania State NSSF Rimfire Championship. In June I placed 3rd at the NC Shooting Sports Games in Open, which was surprising due to all the equipment malfunctions I had. I've placed or won at several other rimfire matches (DPRC and Boone). Also got lucky and ended up 2nd place at a ZSA 2-gun centerfire night match at PSR.

Best of all I was able to obtain sponsorship by Striplin Custom Guns. Secondary sponsors include Tactical Solutions, Tandemkross, Walther, Volquartsen, Holosun, Hunters HD Gold, ADCO Inc, Volk Studio, NF Manufacturing, and Steve's Custom Kydex.

Not anywhere near as impressive as the centerfire shooting accomplishments by folks like @Travis B. But for me, it has been a really great year.

Still have not made the above goals, so I continue on. Adding the goal of getting some 10 round (45 ACP) magazines to my Single Stack equipment, and making C class in Limited 10. That way between my Revolver and Single Stack equipment, i'll be able to shoot in (excluding Open Division [not interested]) five of the divisions.

Get classified in production, should've happened this year, but rain killed my last chance. Looks like C, so goal is make B. How: quit getting sloppy on easy shots in classifiers. for starters. Actual match performance, first make plans stick and recover better when they can't, then work entries and exits, next RUN. That's all I got.

One full year of USPSA down. I may have slightly improved remembering plans. Everything else still lags.

Will probably play in CO and/or SS for a little while then revisit Production.
