Until 1988, I worked not so far from Compton. It was already a frightening area. I can’t imagine it now.

I now support LEO'S that work in the hood using the military donated APCs.
Those “communities” don’t want to be policed. They don’t want you or your laws. They don’t want your laws being forced upon them. Let them have it. Just wall them off for containment and let them have their wish.

So the little old lady on SS who can't get out or the single mom with kids that's trying to work her way out and want the police are just SOL?

Exactly. The police are not needed by the thugs in those neighborhoods. They are needed for the innocent victims of those thugs who have no choice but to live in those neighborhoods.

People dealt with criminals long before there were police. They also did do in far more effective ways too.

Looks like a kid.
Probably, which makes it even more sad. What warped a kid into doing that? I know the homicide captain said that fish eye lens obscure height/weight, but not that much.

There does need to be some basic laws for humans living together. Do not shoot other humans in the head should be somewhere near the top. I’m all for mostly free market, libertarian ideals, but complete Anarchy isn’t the answer. They should hunt these animals down and make an extreme example of them. Heads on pikes, or @gunbelts ears on necklace idea wouldn’t be too harsh.

The govt. sure is doing a bang up job of it.
And if the police (gov) cracked down on criminals, you would be one of the first to be complaining about the out of control jack booted thugs.

We can't really do that. We can not keep them from moving out anywhere they want unless we break the laws we are trying to enforce. We can not imprison them without due process and we can not abandon the good folks living in the areas. Build more prisons, get judges who will not just let them go, elect politicians who do not encourage actively or passively the lawlessness, and make the maggots submit to the laws of the land. To do otherwise would be lowering ourselves to their level and would be trashing the Constitution.

The Romans had a good idea about what to do to Roman citizens who were problematic. They did not have the death penalty for citizens but could exile them. Perhaps we could ship all the malcontents to some island somewhere from which they could not easily escape so they could live by their own laws or lack of laws. One of the Aleutian Islands could be a possibility. An atoll in the Pacific would work. The judges could give certain criminals life without parole in a prison or life on an island. That should pass muster with the Constitution.

They did for treason and patricide(technically parricide. Was mostly for fathers, but in rare instances could be close relatives. Not always the case, though, there's a famous case of a Roman citizen having no punishment for starving her daughter to death.). Their patricide death penalty involved a monkey, a rooster, and a leather sack.

Ive stated ,as well as others, for a long time that we hear more and more about this because we now have (for the past 30 years or so) a 24 hour news broadcast. Today we have more outlets than ever before to get information from.

That said, and piling on something that @CZfool68 stated - people dont care about consequences anymore, it's too easy to not truly get punished.
As you know, Im an educator. Yeah, Im one of the liberal educators brainwashing your kids or whatever some of yall think we do
And I can compare kids today to what I experienced two decades + ago, it's different. Not a great deal, but it seem the bad has gotten worse. Being in the building, I see what gets tolerated/passed along, as far as actions go, not speaking of knowledge/education.
I see what parents 'accept' these days and how, usually, it correlates to the child's behavior/actions.

I think back to when I was in school and how things were in the home as well as in the school. I got paddled at school once. One lick. I had the option, I could take the lick, or they would call home - well, much like many of you, home was WAY worse, so I opted for the lick.
I recall a particularly 'bad' day in 5th grade...just a rough year of school for me ... but I recall that day my principal having me in a headlock dragging my butt down the hallway because I was acting a fool.
They went hands on, and Im THANKFUL for them.
That year, to my knowledge, only two kids got paddled for 'fighting' (shoving back and forth, really) during gym, I was one of them. Kids knew not to screw around or Mr. Daniels would pull that paddle out. We feared him. Respected him, but feared too. He had made an example of us and it worked.

My dad went hands on, not abusive, but physical punishment, and I am now THANKFUL for that. I loved my father (loved? Hell, I still do!), but I also feared the heck out of him. I wasnt always the best kid, and I know I caused him and my biological mom a lot of headache and worry, but he disciplined me and Im thankful today for it.

Anyway, today these kids have little fear. Ok, tehy do something dumb and get suspended or ISS (in school suspension) - cool, no work for them! They get in trouble at school and we call and so many parents ask, "Well, what am I supposed to do with him?"
Parents are parenting anymore.
Schools dont discipline enough anymore.
There is no more paddling. Today you get ISS or suspended at worse. I mean, sure, you do something REALLY bad and you can be expelled, but that usually involves a gun. Not even knives.
Back in my day, kids that got popped with cigs got suspended. Today their first time they get a 3 hour 'tobacco education' course on a computer they have to take. Three hours about how it can hurt them etc. Didnt they get this in DARE? Why are you putting them through this, they know it already.

So, back to this - parents dont parent, police dont police enough (or, if they do, the gov is releasing the folks to go do more, no real consequences) and so things spiral downward.
Are we really expecting the citizens to behave better if we lessen consequences? Sorry, this aint no socialist utopia, humans gonna human and it's not pretty.
So here we likely have a child that has been taught how the cops are so bad and that you can do whatever, it'll be ok.
Time to start making an example out of some folks.

[sorry for the wall of text]

I stand corrected.
I think I could tolerate the monkey, dog, and snake but would be quite bothered by the chicken.

Let's go back to public hangings on Saturday mornings.
And with TV/cable we can interrupt the regular programs so you don't even have to be there.
Put lead pants on a few and pop some heads off for good measure.

Go back to chain gangs cleaning the ditches, I grew up with those working by the house when I was young.
My parents told me what they were and I figured out I didn't want any part of that.

Harsh?
Hell yea, life is a bitch if you let her be one.

Or another continent? Antarctica????

If states refuse to have death penalty for murdering any LEO or first responder, then Feds should take the case.

According to the FBI's data on Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted, a total of 2,116 officers were assaulted by firearms in 2018, and 6.1% of those officers were injured. Also in 2018, 55 law enforcement officers died while in the line of duty from felonious assaults and 51 died in accidents, FBI data found.

Why should they be any different than the murder of anyone else? Murder is one of those crimes for which restitution can’t be made. The penalty should be execution carried out swiftly, not rotting in a cell while playing an appeal game.

When you can ride around communities that are infested by thugs and see no LEO’s in the area busting heads you can only expect the degradation that our country currently suffers.

I agree with you, we need people's justice not criminal justice.

One of two things will happen. Drug cops will give a pass to some one they arrest and they’ll rat him out or when PeeWee starts bragging about it and draws heat his own crew will smoke him. You’re on camera boarding and leaving too ..

in the video
there is a person walking, then stopping at intersection as shots fired, perp runs toward them.....
hopefully other, better cameras were around.

Let's go back to public hangings on Saturday mornings.
My GG Grand Father Sykes Bruton was the sheriff of Horry County in 1842. He and his family were recruited here from Bruton's Parish Virginia to stop hog stealing.
He hanged one every Saturday morning and one Saturday when it was raining he hanged one by dropping him down the stairwell at the court house.
The stealing Stopped.
