I just got a quote to do a 27 x 13 slab (351 sq. ft.) and thought it was a little high. They were connecting into the foundation of the house every 4' with rebar in both directions. The concrete is 4" thick suing 4000PSA mix with Fiber. The estimate is just under $3,000. It is to have a broom finish.

I have no idea what it should cost. This on the side of the house which will never grow any grass and is dirt and roots.

Any ideas if the price is in line?

Thanks,

Ricky

I had a 24' x 12' Slab poured last year for $2000 They didn't do any rebar support and they were low bidder by far. I think yours is a fair price.

It's a bit high but no terribly out of range. If they are a reputable company I would go with it. Just make sure you get some referrals.

Seems kinda high. It’s only 4.5 yards concrete
Why the fibermesh? And drilling?
Most patios are 3.5” thick from 2x4 forms and have 6x6” wire roll reinforcing .
Are you on a hill?

I’d say it’s a hair high but not stupid. I calculated the concrete at 5.6 yards. So figure 6. With the fiber added that’s about $720 - $800 worth of concrete.

Labor and materials for forming plus the tie in and reinforcement adds up. And fiber concrete is a little more difficult to get a good finish with.

If it’s a company with a good reputation I think you’re good.

By them tying the rebar and slap in to the foundation...this is where the additional cost and fiber mix concrete is coming from.

Is this being installed in the ga area in your profile? If so that could have some effect on the pricing. Like others stated not a horrible price and sometimes lowest is not always best also comfort level with contractor and they will do a good job is worth a little piece of mind sometimes.

Drilling for rebar. That’s labor intensive. I would think it would be higher. Most contractors would not make the effort to get the bid.
