Cooking with wolfie

I believe a good paramedic could still save that steak. LOL You sure do turn out some good looking meals. I'm sure that they are as good as they look. As always, thanks for sharing with us.

LOL...yea, I ate the steak, but honestly it could've been just a tad more done.
/shrug/
It'll be fine as left over...a little time in the microwave will fix it. :)

I've been slack on posting what I've been fixing, but here's what I made tonight.
c1811dbba382d4df53fbb6ff5ab52491.jpg

Fried pork chop. Sat in buttermilk and breaded with flour seasoned with cumin, chili powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and oregano. Parmesan-garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans. Forgot to double check the green beans after they simmered a little while so they could've used a little more seasoning. It was all good nonetheless.

Tonight

Cooked some salmon & kale for supper...

here ya go.

First I thinly sliced some garlic cloves and "toasted" in a hot pan w olive oil.
Chopped up the kale, sliced the shallots, zested & quartered a lemon, and halved the grape tomatoes.
33534054840_8b545c2e3d_z.jpg

The salmon, seared/sautéed and the kale wilted in a mix of heavy cream & sautéed shallots.

The grape tomatoes being seared.

And, plated.
It was really good, the kale could have been wilted more, but I was starving and couldn't wait any longer. :)

That looks way too good to be that healthy! Yum!

Well, after all the work I did planting and yard work, I still managed to fix some food.
Sure would've been easy to just fix a bologna sammich and call it good.
That might be what I have tonight...

Burgers mixed with some bacon & bacon grease, garlic, seasonings.
Grillmaster & Godfather sausages from Lowes Food and roasted tater slices.

33916876492_a61fc53f39_z.jpg

One of the burgers with a slice of Havariti.
Would have really liked to have a mushroom/swiss, but no swiss...

All done & my plate forthcoming

Cool enough to eat out on the deck yesterday evening.
No bun, all I had was whole wheat bread, which was fine by me.
Some sort of lettuce mix, roma tomato, vidalia onion slice, roasted taters, Claussen pickle spear.

Tonight I put a pork loin on with potatoes and green beans to slow cook until tomorrow.

Pork loin rubbed with spices and olive oil, then seared and placed in the crock pot. Spice mix is salt, pepper, basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary. Onions and garlic were sauteed in the pan before searing the pork loin, then put in the bottom with the vegetables. More salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary went in with the vegetables.

Deglazed the pan with beef stock after searing the pork loin, then poured than over everything. Covered with the rest of the beef stock and water. Gonna be good once I get back from fishing with the teenagers. I might even let them have some.

I need a bigger cast iron skillet.

Ha! Always need a bigger skillet. I bought a cheap, huge skillet and lid and sanded it down to the bare metal. Then seasoned about 4 times. Have been cooking bacon and other fatty meat in it. Maybe 10 cooks so far. It is now almost all black and pretty non-stick. Just be patient and cook bacon.

Grilled chicken thighs & roasted veggies on Saturday.

Sunday I didn't really feel all that great, but I had some zucchini that I wanted to try a new recipe with.
Also have 3 big bags of kale to make something with tonight and maybe tomorrow....

34072668082_f87e7f454a_b.jpg

Made the filling with Italian sausage, onion, red bell, baby bellas, & the scooped out zucchini.
Added some pasta & tomato sauce, plus spices.

Had to come to this thread to see what I was missing out on.

You're.....................gonna.........................be..................................hooked.

I won't have anything to show until the weekend most likely, as that's when I do most of my cooking, but I can post up the chicken pot pie I made this past Saturday...

Now that there is a Sunday Chicken Pie if I ever saw one ! It's like the kind grandma used to make on Sundays that we didn't get fried chicken. That was back before Valleydale lard killed us all. Honestly, I'm just too stupit ta know I'm dead I reckon.

Your food looks good, but I like the doggies better! Wanna trade that brown guy/gal for a box of 9mm?

That pup might just bite you for suggesting that! lol

"Try and take me from my mama will ya!"

haha...

That's Taylor, my MinPin and sorry, but wouldn't trade here for a golden mule. :)
We've been through a lot together.

Not much cooking this past weekend, though I did fix a NY Strip & baked tater for supper on Saturday.

Need to make a little something for tomorrow with the leftover chicken thighs...thinking maybe onions/red & orange bell peppers/roma tomato all wrapped up in a tortilla, maybe some refried black beans too...

Wow. It's been a while since I've posted anything.

I have cooked, I promise...enough to feed a few Marines. :D

This was back, the first part of May, tuna melt w/Swiss

It was very good and extremely filling. :)

Baked ziti the Saturday before Mother's Day.

Mother's Day, my son came over and grilled steaks for us....
2 NY Strip steaks, 2 Godfather sausage burgers, and foil packets with baby bella mushrooms & garlic for the steaks.

That's it for now.

I'll maybe grill some burgers & Sabrett's hotdogs on Monday.
Tomorrow, maybe a pork chop or a pork tenderloin with some roasted veggies...

I was wondering where you've been. As always, the food looks amazing.

Here's my post to my FB page.

And here we go....decided on good ole American cheese with bacon of course.

My table this evening....to remind people that this day is not about just grilling out, spending time at the beach or mountains or some other place, nor is it about partying and drinking.
34134569354_1f3c3de8f3_z.jpg

It's a day of Remembrance for all the men and women who have given their all, the greatest sacrifice, so that we, as Americans can enjoy the freedoms we have today. For all the oppressed population of other countries, so that you don't live under a Thumb.

My Dad was a Veteran of the Korean War, but lived through it to see another day. Many did not.

For all who sacrificed it all.

God Bless America and her Armed forces, past & present.

Grilled burgers & Sabrett hotdogs this evening.

Burger is NY Strip steak, ground.
Have enough left over for lunches this week....

Decided on American cheese today, because, well, today is about our American men & women.
Decided on bacon to go with, because, well, all red blooded American men & women, past & present, they all love bacon!! :)

Let's start this off with the "why" for today....
34134569354_1f3c3de8f3_z.jpg

Just about ready for some cheese & bacon.

And, all put together.
This was ALMOST as good as a mushroom/swiss burger I had way back in September. ALMOST.

Nice, Wolfie.

Letsee...

Friday evening, some Pork Loin Country Ribs
(cleaned off 95% of the fat that was hanging on them too.
Marinated in a Caribbean Jerk sauce.
Then roasted some radishes/baby red taters, mushrooms.
Steamed a head of broccoli too.

Kept it super simple tonight with a dish I've been wanting to try. Spaghetti Aglio e Olio (spaghetti with garlic and oil).

Obviously it doesn't look like much more than noodles, but if you could smell it then you'd know why it's the most popular pasta dish in Italy (supposedly).

So, I did a little grilling this evening.
Wishing I had more to grill because my grill was a bit hot when I finished.
Oh well.

Tonight, it was a pork tenderloin marinaded in Caribbean Jerk
Chicken breast in Sesame Ginger
And 4 burgers.

Definitely enough to last till next weekend.
Sorta wish I had something else to grill since the grill was still hot, but /shrug/

@wolfpack65 , you probably had enough heat to do a cobbler.
yea, I probably did, but didn't have the fruit...

Birds or some animal ate all my blueberries this year and last year.

Maybe I can stop at the farmer's market tomorrow and get some fruit to make a cobbler next week.

For this evening, I grilled early, 1)before anymore storms rolled my way, and 2)I really prefer eating my last meal much earlier in the day vs 6, 7,8pm. Still like the 7am, 12pm, 5pm schedule my Grandma had if'in, you wanted to eat with her.

I had a sockeye salmon fillet, tuna steak, NY Strip steak and some yellow squash/zucchini to grill this afternoon.
The fish will be meals tomorrow, Mon/Tues. with some of the squash or some broccoli.
The steak was HUGE.
I only ate half of it, meaning I now have enough for about 5 meals probably

The prep, cooking, end results...

Decided to try my hand at making Cuban bread. Not too bad on the first try, but the second try was absolutely great. Makes for a great sandwich, or a snack. Tried French toast with it this morning at it was okay, but the bread wasn't old enough and I cut the slices too thick. Not sure why the picture of the loaf looks so flat.

Mixed up some venison sausage with some Bass Farms Spicy Sausage this morning.
Didn't really like the venison breakfast sausage prior to this...
Tasted more better this time, so I fixed a sammich.

Maybe next time, I'll just see about getting some pork fat and mixing in, try different things.
