Montebello Police Department Officer Robert Josett was answering a public disturbance call when he was faced with a 92-year-old man who was upset because tellers wouldn’t give him his money.

The senior citizen’s California identification card had expired, and Bank of America’s policy requires that a valid government-issued ID be shown when making withdrawals.

I'd close my account

Remember when you went to your bank and they knew your name, Pepperidge farm remembers

It’s why I bank with Fidelity now. They are a small local bank that has no intentions of selling.

I walk in and they all say “Hey Chad”. Great folks and easy to deal with on both small business and personal loans.

Bank of America.
Absolutely no surprise.
This institution has a long established history of being more like Bank of Amerika.
The most offensive thing is their name. The audacity...

And my guess..just a guess..is that since he was dealing with private-first-class teller, he didn't want a whole lot of money anyway. I highly doubt he said; I want to withdrawal my $118,000 now. Thank you.
Really disturbing, BoA's end response to helping this old man was NO! and then call the cops on him.

We treat our old people like crap. It's pathetic. Kudo's to the young Cop that seems to still have a sense of integrity and respect.

What an ordeal, I worked my teller line for 6 years before
I moved into bank IT Dept, this would never have happened on my watch.

Think I will close my BOA account, already use SECU.

I walk in and they all say “Hey Chad”.

And then they put on the latex gloves, not knowing where your hands, card, or money has been (or WHO in) lol

I have NCSECU, great. My 'home' branch knows me and they've almost all been there for decades. Love it.

I'm guessing @B00ger is busy doing stuff.

B00ger works at a different bank. He is no longer a storm trooper with BOA. That, and I've never worked in a branch.

But to be fair, the requirements for ID are pretty universal...sucks sometimes, but meh.

Woman I was traveling with last year got on a domestic flight with an expired ID. I understand that they expire for purposes of collecting revenue, but unless she couldn’t identify him from the card I don’t know what the risk is.

I closed all BoA accounts about a decade ago including the business ones, they suck.

Likely story you are just a tax collector for the king! ;)

The king has gotten pretty good at stopping skimming, so I had to get an honest job.

I heard about this and had two thoughts...what a shitty bank and what an awesome cop. A story that shows the people who fail at life and shows an individual who exceeds at the same time.
