Coronavirus pandemic among reasons a Wake County gun shop is seeing record sales

I was in there yesterday and Tommy Smith said they've had 3 black friday's in a row. That was last Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday. I got there about 10am yesterday to grab a lb of rifle powder for testing purposes, and they had sold nearly 2 pallets of 556 in 2 hours. The look of panic in peoples eyes was surreal.

I was in there yesterday 20mins before closing & there was 20/30 ppl inline? Passed 5 or 6 more as I walked out. The used shotgun rack was wiped out.

Tim Schmidt of USCCA was on Tucker Carlson last night voicing concern that many are first time impulse buyers and strongly suggesting getting some sort of training.
A friend works at a LGS thatā€™s been depleted of nearly everything. He says the majority of buyers are first timers and not one asked about training, practice venues or safe storage.

I live a mile from there and the parking lot has been packed even at closing.

Clay said in a video he posted two days ago that his business is always good during election years, then the events in VA drove a run on guns and ammo there for 8 months, and now the Chinese virus just put everyone over the edge. Today heā€™s saying ammo is getting ready to get scarce for him.

The sell off after this panic has passed will be epic. Some folks bought after Sandy Hook out of fear the Gov was gonna ban certain items; folks are buying now out of fear for life and safety, it's a more mentally unstable time.

Cash will be king after they hysteria and supply chains calm down.

Sadly, I think most of the momo's that are out there panic buying old beater shotguns and whatever else they can get aren't the type that are savvy enough to find us here, or probably even gun broker...so they will be sitting in closets, sold back to the LGS, or turned in at a future "gun buy back" which will make it look like a grand success.

The party line at the grocery store is they are selling a normal weeks worth of groceries a day. A spokes person for Food Lion supposedly said there is plenty of food but people are hoarding. There is no need to hoard. While I would agree. My bet is on ole Roy shutting down the ABC stores and or declaring SHELTER IN PLACE and then you wont be able to buy groceries or liquor. I dont trust that guy at all. He's got an axe to grind and a secret agenda.

I won't even go in to say hi right now.Too damn busy and I don't want to get trampled by the sheeple.

Or maybe they will finally become one of us wishing they hadnā€™t been one of them.

Midsouth has had a huge run on ammo as well. Hard to tell about guns since he sells so many anyway. Had people from Charlotte drive down to look at guns and buy ammo.

Our little local store (Elk Outdoors) sold a pallet load of ammo on Saturday and people begging for more....you see I learn from history and I know it repeats all the time.

Royā€™s EO about containing guidance regarding the ABC Boards states that the local boards will decide if they should stop sales or not. His EO states ā€œspirituous liquorā€ can still be sold by the bottle.
The manā€™s a piece of shit. Within days there will be no alcohol sales because they control the stores entirely and drunk people do crazy things in a manufactured crisis.

ā€”-4 young men get together and drink. Fight breaks out.
ā€”-4 young men get together and smoke weed. They start a boys band.

Dont want to derail the thread anymore than I already did but the state's GS's regarding EO says that the Gov shall have the concurrence of the Council of State and as pointed out by the Lt. Gov the other day, Cooper does not have that and he does not care. He will declare lock down and decree that ABC stores are not essential.

With all due respect to the posters with numbers that far surpass mine.

I have a friend that is on the council of state. I have only voted for on member of the ā€œotherā€ party since moving back to NC in 1970. He was a council of state member and worked tirelessly to control the cost of a required product...

The optics of that little tantrum has not been well received. If Dan Forest wants to be Governor, he now looks more clownish than Joe Biden. The Council of State reminds me of the expected criticism and the activist judges that have fought the Presidentā€™s EO since day one.

It is important that we have a Republican back in the Govā€™s chair. That effort, based on some comments from many folks that are not especially politically active set back that effort.

it is also important that we retake the House and strength the majority in the Senate.

The recent bad press about Burr will be exploited to the hilt. If he has to be sacrificed, then which party persuasion do you think that Roy will appoint, if Dan gets elected, after being released from the ER for multiple wounds to his feet, then he would probably appoint Pat McCrory.

BTW....if you are following the Burr story...he and a lady Senator Loeffler from GA are being blasted. Dianne Feinstein sold MILLIONS in a pharma and so did Inhofe. So the sound bites will focus on the 3 Republicans who, combined, probably dumped less than DiFi.

Unseating Roy is the priority. I note that once the Democrats quit sniping at Trump and sort of faded or got with the program that his numbers are up. Dan made, IMHO, a very serious political and tactical error...especially for someone with limited appeal.

Roy, for all his stupidity, was in the forefront and copying the Ohio Gov. I am shut down and in self imposed isolation until my 14 days is up from my last potential crowd exposure. Have many friends that are doing same . We are all over 70. Many other serious prepper friends (one has a 6 figure ammo stockpile and EMF/EMP Faraday cages and 6 months of food and shoots the squirrels that eat his ā€œsurvival venisonā€ food) are doing the same.

NOTE. Just edited. Karl Rove on Fox Business just reported this. The DECISIVE Tromp just added 23 points to his Virus Rating Poll.... here is the snippet from an ABCNews poll that you KNOW is biased for Trump (Yeah....LOL)....

In the new poll, 55% of Americans approve of the president's management of the crisis, compared to 43% who disapprove. Trumpā€™s approval on this issue is up from last week, when the numbers were nearly reversed. Only 43% approved of Trump's handling of the pandemic and 54% disapproved in last week's poll.

Just my viewpoint....others obviously might differ....be safe....

You can still go to the grocery store under all the current "shelter in place" directives.

Wherever I go will be "the grocery store" or doctor.

I had an appt with my doc monday afternoon. They changed it to the morning. Sick patients in the afternoon. Makes sense. Mine is a somewhat critical follow up even though I'm not "sick". I'm curious if they straight up cancelled stuff like yearly physicals, etc. if the patient is well or willing to agree to it.

@TomGCherry that's some good analysis. I agree, Dan Forest is the priority. Bloomberg is trying to flip the NC Legislature back to Dem, and Cooper is already on board--he's called for some pretty strict gun control that even some in his party here in NC know not to try. If we get Dan Forest in the Gov Mansion, then he can veto all the bad gun bills coming from the Legislature.

Dan is in a bad spot. Roy's on the TV every night looking like he's doing a good job and all the TV stations are doing all they can to help Roy. Dan cannot even hold a rally. It's going to be really tough to unseat Roy. Most voters are too stupid to see the nuance in Dan's statement--he was objecting to Roy's abuse of power more than the content of the EO itself.

Thanks...

There was a rumor going around that Old Huckleberry Hound Roy was shut down the Booze joints (ABC Stores) yesterday. Lots of rumors out there about such. CA, NY & IL following OH's lead. I am totally social distanced and have a calendar of my "last group exposures....and I am on days 14 and 15 of the high risk ones. Roy is gaining approval rating points....just like Trump. Council of State should be more supportive and sort of sniping to be MORE proactive. Take a page out of Schummer's playbook.

Local EMS and First Responders are NOT on alert or have any info as to Roy flexing his muscles.

A Senior Living Facility (Woodland Terrace - Cary) has the first reported resident testing positive. Fortunately it is in the AZD unit. I am very familiar with that entire complex as my mom was there and passed away in the separate (Arboretum) AZD section. We have friends from church there. I hope that the enhanced protocols that came from the sloppy ones in Kirkland, WA will cause this to be an isolated case and not an epicenter.

I appear to have missed something. What did Forest do?
Made a fuss about Cooper shutting down the restaurants and bars without the concurrence of the Council of State. I think Forestā€™s intent was to object to Cooper ignoring state statute and protocol before making his EO, but what it looks like to the unaided eye is that Forest wanted to leave the bars and restaurants open.

Oh, that - I heard about that and easily understood what he was saying, but I can imagine how WRAL & "News" Observer reported it.
