Could this be why I have been waiting 9+ months on my form 4?

I know wait times are semi-unpredictable AND this is my first tax stamp submission if that makes a difference. But I have been waiting on a form 4 since March 20. While looking at the paperwork, I noticed that the current version of form 4 available on the ATF website was revised in November 2022. But the version that my transferring dealer electronically submitted (4 months after the latest revision) was the previous version which was revised September 2019. Could this have been rejected and required a resubmission and possibly be the cause for the extended wait?

I know nothing that I do or say is going to make it come any quicker. Just curious on thoughts.

9 months is still in range. it's coming soon.
they won't be able to tell you anything if you call.
you can get your rep involved if you really want. some of they hate the process too and will have a staffer start asking questions once you sign some release forms.

i'm still waiting since may for 2 form 1 applications i did at the deadline for the brace ban... form 1 is supposed to take a couple weeks.

Thanks for the info. I'm not going to push it too much unless a few more months pass without any word.

I just submitted my first form 1 earlier today. A few weeks ago, the average wait time for form 1 was showing around 30-40 days. Just checked it tonight and it's showing nearly double that. Guess I'll just settle in.

Out of curiosity, I called the NFA "status check" number as provided by Silencer Shop, Silencer Central, and some of the other big suppressor dealers this morning. Took about 5-8 minutes to get someone on the line. I will say that the gentleman I spoke with was extremely pleasant. If you call at the end of the day after they've been cussed out 9 times, it might be different, lol. He basically said "It's not you, it's us." He said they were currently working though a backlog of submissions from Dec-Mar and that there was nothing wrong on my end, just waiting on them to process it. Sounds good but then you have peeps like the one posted above that submitted in January and got it back 4 months ago. So who knows?

I've been emailing a bunch of ATF emails over and over asking for status updates. The squeaky wheel, in theory, gets the grease.

Whatever makes you sleep better…

…as useless as it actually is. 😝

I’ve got a cousin that works for the ATF in Martinsburg. I joked around about mov my applications up the line. She said that I’d better be joking and it’s not that funny of a joke. In other words, not no, but HELL NO! 😝

I'd be afraid the squeaky wheel would get thrown away, aka, moved to the back of the line.
I called a couple weeks ago and mine was approved a week or two after I called. Moving it to the end would require them to spend time finding yours... I don't think they'd put that much effort into anything.

Someone on Reddit was blowing the ATF up and got his approval in about 55 days. I work with the public, and the most annoying person always gets what they want first.

Not sure where you're looking at Form 1 times, but I got one back in 12 days just before Chrismas and have seen several others recently posted on ARFCOM with similar times.

The ATF has average form 1 wait time as of November 1 at 68 days.

I called the local ATF a few weeks ago about some paperwork submitted 11 months ago. She said be patient. They only have 5 agents working all of the paper forms. This may or may not be true. Either way, I am disappointed at best.

the squeaky wheel gets the atf to find a reason to reject it. i have experience in this - they rejected mine in error, once i had my congressperson do the squeaking. they have no way to un-reject an application, you just have to resubmit. they may give you priority on the resubmission, they may not. it's their discretion.
