So the new normal means planning way ahead of time. Things are not available to just go down to the store and buy when you need them. They are made in China or somewhere other than where we are located. I ordered a Whirlpool freezer back in April, panic era. It will finally be delivered Wednesday. I could have taken delivery of another brand sooner, China. I chose to get the one from the US. These freezers are made in Ohio.
The Covid shutdown in Ohio slowed down production of freezers for sure. I also get jars for my honeybee business from Ohio. That is also a plan ahead item now. I had to drive to Myrtle Beach twice to pick up 140 cases of pint jars to use for honey. What have y’all experienced as far as item shortages or extended wait times?

My plan was to buy a freezer after we moved here. There were none to be found anywhere. I looked online at all of the usual places every day. I just happened to check Best Buy one day and they showed some in stock. I immediately bought one and scheduled pick up the next day. Then I went back to look and they were out of stock. I doon't know how long they were in stock before I got one but they were gone in just a few minutes after.

Freezers (as you mentioned), ammo, hand guns, disinfectant spray and wipes, canning supplies (mainly lids), pressure canners, toilet paper at first but it is back on the shelves (with flu season around the corner and the Kung Flu still hanging around I'd guess there will be another run on this), cleaning alcohol and aloe, hand sanitizer and a host of other things (bikes, exercise equipment, etc)

GM parts were unobtainable for a bit if they weren't in the dealer network. Warehousing in MI was shut down supposedly.

Heil parts have been very slow, story is production is all but stopped.

There's probably been other part issues I've forgotten.

Laptops and computer junk are/were in pretty short supply.

3 months to get a kayak that was "on order and being delivered in a couple weeks." Yeah, that fell through. Twice. It was an upgrade and I really like the shop I ordered it from so we waited on it.

Leather got backed up too and I finally had to order about $2K worth of leather I didn't need right away to build up my next order in house. Getting ready to dip into that and order again. Although that seems to have stabilized a little. I had to shut my stores down a time or two before I got ahead of things.

At the real job OSHA and FDA actually had to lift some requirements to keep us running. Shutting down was never an option.

Same here - I couldn’t find a freezer until I hit Best Buy (my last choice for appliances) and it was delivered 2 days after I ordered it and so far so good keeping temp at -4F to -2F

Printer cartridges. My wife usually buys 2 Canon cartridges for $50. They are now $67 and Amazon is the only place that has them.

Beef is back in the stores but the price has seen a significant increase. Chicken hasn’t been in short supply. I think that is due in large part to House of Raeford selling 40lb boxes off the back of trucks. I will be making a substantial purchase the next time they are in our area. We purchased some thighs and breast the last time they were in the area. Those were the biggest breast I have ever seen, on a chicken.

I know a guy that raises cattle, store price is high, but he says they aren't paying squat for the cows.

What kind of prices is he getting for beef? Is it grass fed grain finished? Does he sell to the public? Asking for a friend.

He mentioned what he was getting but I forget. Don't know the rest. I'd say I'd ask, but I only see him a couple times a year.

I get mead and honey jars from this company and they have a pretty good supply.

I have found that just about everything is behind in availability or shipping....new normal. If you come up for containers you welcome to come visit for a bit and get a cheesesteak....lol. Heck I can even put you up too.
