My wife has tasked me with getting rid of the yotes.
I have a ar15 pistol 10.5 inch in 300blk that was just built. Why the pistol you ask? I'm waiting on the stamp for the SBR.

My new scope arrived but I need pick it up from Red Line. Njdevil talked me into this. https://www.atncorp.com/x-sight2-hd-day-night-rifle-scope-5-20x

I said all that to say this... The dang yotes are barking and howling, like they caught something near our house. It will soon be game time. I'm just waiting on all the pieces of the puzzle to arrive.

can I help?

There's only a few requirements per the misses.
No drinking
It has to be done quietly
You take what you tag
Yotes only - we have a ton of deer running around. :)

I don't drink.
I'll take the body.
I'll come back for the deer during the day.

Define quiet...

Suppressed or you'll have call them during the day.

Back up,,,,We have Coyotes around here??? As the crow flies we cant be much more than 5 miles apart.
We have them too. (Rural 751 near Jordan Lake). Sometimes very loud at night. We have not seen them, but neighbors have. We have 2 dogs (whole yard is fenced) and one stays outside most nights barking at them. I keep a gun ready to take a shot, but have not actively hunted them. Amnesia - I want to see where you go with this!

They sound angry at night. I hear them pretty close to the house. We are bringing our horses home in the spring and we have a small mini horse that's about 29 inches. Our dogs are also small so walking them at night gets questionable.

I'm putting up deer cameras this week. It's me against these things. The only thing I may do is buy a 16inch blackout upper so I can put a stock on. Majicmike I'm in the country! It takes five minutes to get down our dirt road.

Same sound here. We have chickens (although closed up in their house at night) and 3 goats. Our dogs are Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs (they are *motivated* to chase away *anything*), which I think keeps the coyotes away. But our male dog broke out of the fence last month (managed to get over two gates even with shock collar on full) to chase them, and got hit by a car. Had to get his back leg amputated. He's doing ok now, but I want the coyotes gone. They were not here when I was growing up, or even when we moved to this house 9 years ago.

That sucks. We looked at getting two of these as well. I know Lucky13bullets said he'd come by and shoot em' the only problem is he's fsr away.

They are everywhere. Most everyone that sees them thinks they're mangy dogs. We have a standing order at our gun club to shoot them on sight.

Be aware...they'll eat your pet cats and have been know to kill male dogs. Be careful leaving pets out at night.

Good luck! We had a trapper get 7 last year on mine and parents property till he thought they got wise and moved on and this year he is up to 8 with in about 3-4 weeks of trapping. He estimated the alphas both years so far to be around 50lbs

This is one of the many reasons why they must go. We are putting up a barn in the spring and will have barn cats. I know I can't stop them all but I want to discourage them from staying.

we got ours from this rescue and they have been great dogs. http://www.carolinapyrrescue.com/

the only thing is for some of them (like our male) you need a great fence, because they want to roam and establish a territory free of anything that would threaten the "herd". Mine is outside barking at a vulture right now. :)

I live close by and would love to help blast some yotes. I have zero experience or suppressors, but do have a couple decent rifles chambered in 5.56/.223, lots of ammo, and willingness. Let me know if you want any help.

edit: we have rifles and the internet, what could pissibly go wrong?

I'd love to do it, and quiet wouldn't be an issue. But, I think you're a couple hours from me. :(

About 3 hours. :(

I am putting in for a can this week. Will let you know when it comes. Also, trapping is more effective than shooting if you want them gone. And a suppressed 22lr on a trapped coyote works wonders.

We can't trap them because there are rogue cows that get out of the pasture. I'd hate to trap something that shouldn't be in there.

There are other ways to trap them that won't affect the cattle. Some folks think they're cruel, tho.

Trapping is very efficient. Also I doubt a cows hoof would get caught in a coyote trap. They're not giant bear traps. Plus if somehow they do the trap isn't toothed it has smooth jaws so no harm done.

Don't think you can use a toothed trap anymore legaly. The trapper that comes to our farm uses ones that still catches a foot but its not big enough to hurt a cow or even catch one. Heck even managed to catch both our dogs and never phased one, just let him out and he was back to running around like nothing happened. The other just limped for about 2 mins and acted like nothing happened. The jaws when closed still have a gap in them.

Intresting to me both years he would set multiple traps and seem to have a one hot trap location as he would put them back in same spot and one trap caught majority of them and it was different areas the last two years.

Yep thats what I was trying to convey

Trapping is a wonderful way to help control the predators.
Calling them into gun range is a challenge that makes your heart pound.

Surprisingly the coyotes are showing up more often down here in Charlotte as well.

amnesia I may be close and quiet. Let me know if you need a second set of eyes. Have to be after the first of the year though.

The coyotes come down off the top of the mountains lookin for food this time of year. I'll hear them out there yippin right at the edge of the woods, about 40 yards from my house. I take my billion candlepower flashlight and shine it in the woods. They all shut up and stare at me, all you can see is their yellow eyes. They don't like that flashlight.

Aim between the yellow dots...

I saw a coyote running around near Lennyboy Brewery in uptown CLT 2 Saturdays ago. We just laughed and said they're everywhere.

Coyotes are challenging to shoot. They quickly catch on to calls and bait piles. I hear them often. If a white light hits the area they are in they quickly go silent. I use a bright red light (rifle mounted) they seem to pay no attention to red or green light.

Probably 4 years ago now I had (saw) three of them in with some of my goats at 5:00am one morning. Four goats were so torn up that I had to put them down.

The coyotes were eating this one and it was still alive and squalling.

Yeah, they are unusually well fed here. Might be something to do with the Chicken Farms.......haha

That's our worry... We have a 30 inch mini horse and will have barn cats. If my wife can't hug them they have to go.
