It’s 10:30pm tonight, I’m asleep on the couch. Wife comes to living room (I’m sick with flu like symptoms) wakes me up and says: something’s burning! I heard a pop and now I smell smoke!
I sit up and I smell it too...smells electrical. I check breakers, they’re good. I go outside, no odor. I go under House, no odor. Back inside...gotta be the heat. Turn unit to emergency heat and go back under house. Unit fires on gas, fan does not come on, high limit trips. Turn unit off, turn fan on...buzzzzzzzzz...smoke inside house.
The crazy thing: I actually had a capacitor I bought a few years ago.
No fun working on your furnace, under the house while sick, but man I’m thankful I was able to and that I was able to fix it.
