This morning i got a courtesy call from a studio electronics company to let me know that the "overnight" order "i" placed on their website late last night wasn't going to be delivered today and saturday delivery wasn't an option.
I'm sorry, what? What order?
Turns out my name, my phone number, my credit card, MY ADDRESS were linked to somebody else's email account and a $540 order was placed, to be delivered to my house.
I said "great, so somebody is watching my house and is looking for packages?" and the sales guy said "maybe they were just going to have fedex hold them or deliver them somewhere else since they would have got the tracking info at their own email address..." before they cancelled the order for me.

So I checked my credit card and there was a second mysterious order for $455 from a music shop in texas - They also said it was being shipped to my house, but they detected it as fraud and had already cancelled it.

I called my credit card company and told them that my card was compromised. Those were the only 2 charges, totalling $995... Not enough to flag the standard alerts... i guess. But I've had text alerts for smaller charges before.

Not long after, the doorbell camera detected motion and I was right at the door with a gun in hand before anybody made it to the porch. Turns out it was just my fedex delivery for a few 1000lumen rifle lights.

I think I got it covered, but we'll see. Wifey and I will both have guns at the ready (as usual). suppressed 300 pistol has a painful new strobe light on it. Thinking of seeing if the county PD wants to pass by now and again.
I threw a big empty cardboard box out on the porch (office chair I had delivered a couple days ago).

worst part, I was 100% about to order another SBR today or tomorrow. Now I gotta wait for the account mess to be settled.

Got a cat or dog? You should leave a "parting gift" in the cardboard box on your porch. Or let him take out your garbage for you. Or a glitter bomb...….

I know how you feel. I'd want to catch those suckers too, but be careful. Leaving a big empty box on your porch (as bait) , and writing about it on the internet could be held against you in court if you did catch these goobers in the act and had to protect yourself with deadly force...

Best of luck. I just got nervous for you when you mentioned the box on the porch.

the box is just to get their faces on camera, obviously.
good point though, i didn't make that clear.

I have my credit cards send me a notice to my cell and email for any amount over $1.
So far nothing bad, but I'll know if someone tries something.
I do now too. not that it will help against my info being stolen again (again, again)... but at least i'll get a faster notification.

HAHA! I didn't even think about that....

I was afraid you were trying to get them closer in for an easier shot, like the corn I pour in my back yard for the deer. Hahaha!

This is what would have happened. The address would have been very far away from you as well 90% of the time. Had one here just today that was rerouted to Delaware the day that it was shipped. Of course the victim was not aware until far after she got her credit card statement.

Kind of odd I saw this post literally minutes after hearing this situation.

I agree, the bad guys are having the boxes redirected via the fedex app.

I wouldn’t even bother confronting them, especially with a gun in hand. There is no upside for you in that scenario. What you going to do, hold them at gunpoint for walking onto your porch, or wait until they pick the box up and then shoot them in the back? In this case it’s outside your house and it’s not even your property. I know that you want to do something, but you really should avoid being the one to escalate the violence.

after having my truck robbed a few times in my driveway, i hate a thief. and fear I would be artfully evil if I ever caught one.
