It has to be one of the best cooking inventions ever, the crock pot / slow cooker

Use mine about every 3 or 4 days
Lots of pork loins in it and chicken breasts

Wanting to try some chili recipes this winter
Always trying something new in it.

Wait till you upgrade to an instant pot. Its a crock pot on steroids.

That's what my wife asked my mom to get her for Christmas. It'll be getting its first two uses this coming week.

Just got the wife a new one, with 4 clamps on the lid....works well when transporting to gatherings.

I counter with cast iron cookware. Without it fried.chicken and cornbread wouldn't be the.same.

And with a Dutch oven you can do the same style slow cookin as a crock pot. Bonus is it doubles as a fryer.

Details please. Always interested in ways of cooking chicken breasts that doesn't completely dry them out.

Not much detail really, I usually will put a few boneless, skinless breasts in the CP with some BBQ sauce or whatever Im cooking with and put it on low for about 6 hours.
Delightful

chicken tacos

toss in a couple blsl chicken breasts, cover with salsa and a good dollop of sour cream and a package of taco seasoning. cook 6hrs or so till chicken is done, shred chicken and serve on hard or soft taco shells with some sour cream.

oh snap!

i never heard of one of these.... i must have one now!

From what I've read it's a pressure cooker of sorts. I'm not sure we're allowed to have one though....it's Canadian :) lol

The Instant Pot has pretty much dominated our kitchen since we got it

Oh and yesterday at work we rendered down some hog fat and bottled 3 quarts of lard in the CP. Really worked good!

I have some ham hock and black eyed peas in my crockpot for the new year.

My wife put some boneless pork chops, Frank's Hot Wings sauce and cream cheese in the crock pot while I was in the blind.

One word; delicious.

Well, I spent the better part of an hour reading and watching stuff on the Instant Pot! I reckon' I'll be ordering one of those.

I am a huge fan of buffalo chicken dip done the same way. Now I will need to make buffalo pork chops.

My wife is not a fan of spicy but she makes the buffalo chicken dip for herself. I usually don't get much of it when she does, :(

She will drizzle a little ranch dressing across it before eating.

QVC had it on sale today with free shipping IIRC the 8 qt was $109.

Do you have a link? I'm not finding it on their site.

HA! Didn't see this thread, I just started one for Lazy Bastard Cooking (basically crockpots).

I'll post it here too. Sam's has the pressure cookers. 8 quart.

I have several crock pots and agree they are one of the best things going. I usually allow my finished meal to "age" overnight in the refrigerator. Everything seems to blend together.

I've use my slow cooker to make chili a lot. Now one of my drivers pulled a instapot from a Walmart compactor, brand new nothing wrong with it. Gonna try it this weekend and see how she runs.

If you are drying the chicken breast out it's because it's being over cooked. How do you cook the breast?

Searing both sides in a cast iron skillet, then baking. I find the line between insufficiently cooked and overcooked is very fine for chicken breast. Chicken thighs, on the other hand, are much more forgiving.

That is true for thighs. With the breast try butterflying them then it will not be much more than searing... maybe a minute or so depending on heat. No need for baking that way. :)
