Finally got around to finishing fixing my riding mower's rear hitch plate. I decided against welding the inner and outer corner braces. I didn't want to have to cut them back off in the future if I needed to make some other repairs. So I just welded the split from the trans disengage rod hole down to the corner. It was kind of tight getting the mig wire in that small corner but it worked out nice.

I've got a 2014ish CC LTX1050. Are they known for splitting there? How many hours do you have?

That's not a cub cadet. THIS is a cub cadet! (Nice fix!)

I'm not sure on your LTX. This i1046 is going on 10 years old. It has about 150 hours on it. This cracked rear plate happened because every leaf season for the last 5 years I've been pulling a Cyclone Rake leaf machine behind it. The zero turn feature combined with the fixed (no jackknife) hitch on the Cyclone is what cause this plate to break. Sucking up a bunch of wet leaves that weigh more than 100lbs and having that machine swinging around (it's on rubber caster wheels) behind it was just too much for it. The i1046 got terrible reviews online and I think MTD stopped selling it after 2 years. But I have never had anything go wrong with this mower. I've replaced the deck belt once and besides replacing the fuel filter and changing the oil and replacing the battery, I've never had a single problem with it.

I just checked on the hours. Mine has 210 hours. Oh, and the bird crap, that's what my welds look like. They're not pretty, but they're strong.
