I’ve always thought they were unattractive, but for the specs and price they are a good alternative to the other 1/2 ton options if towing occasionally. Granted, capacity is quite a bit under any modern 3/4 ton, but so is the price.

Anyone here have one?

I am not in the market but looked at this one from the outside. I might be looking in a few years.

I looked and test drove one, it was extremely nice. Cummins should be easy to get parts for if something goes wrong but I don’t know about long term how that motor will hold up. I’d worry about the rest of the drivetrain, not sure how much beefier it is to handle the bigger motor.

Might want to wait for the 2020 Toyota Tundra. Same 5.0 Cummins with a tad more HP/Tqe for Toyota.
I'm personally not impressed with the 5.0 Cummins. From YouTube vids, truck trend articles I've read....it ok...but it's not getting that great fuel economy like a diesel should IMO. Granted they are stock, the ones in the vids, but a F250 6.7L or Ram Cummins will walk circles around it. And you have to pay to play. Everyone I know that has a diesel says do not buy one unless you need it.... maintenance costs!!!!!
I would love to have a F250...just cause...but my DirtySCREW F150 5.0 is doing just fine!

My BIL went from an F-350 to an F-350 Duelly to the F-450. Honesty after the regular F-350 they were all super ugly.

Nissans quaility has been taking a steady nose nose dive for the past 10 years. I would stay far away from them till they improve. I have a customer that has three in the family and it is a joke with us that one is always at my shop.

Yep. I used to run a very small fleet of diesel trucks in a company I owned not long ago. We had 4 mid-range size trucks licensed at 26,000 lb. gvw.

One was a 2006 IHC 4300 with a DT-466. Two were 2013 Freightliners and the 4th was a 2015 Kenworth.

As a business owner, I could have bought a new truck, with cash, every year with the money I spent on engine and emission related repairs. Not to mention the associated logistical costs such as towing and rental, when the two Freightliners and Kenworth would breakdown. Not to mention the resulting freight costs and everything else. The problems and costs were staggering for the business.

The '06 IHC ran great and gave us very little trouble. It was also my favorite truck to drive if I needed a bigger truck to haul something somewhere.

Edit:

I forgot to mention this. The company that purchased my business at the end of last year recently sold the '06 IHC and one of the Freightliners and replaced them with 2 brand new 2019 trucks of the same size.

Both of these trucks were recently in the shop with engine/emission/electrical related issues at the same time the same week they were purchased.

I remember watching a video on that Nissan truck when they first came out. They were towing a trailer up a certain pass out west. The main disadvantage per their review was not enough HP/torque.

I was concerned about repair/maintenance costs when I bought my F250. It is more expansive with regards to oil changes, since it takes 13 quarts. Knock on wood, I've had no issues going on 50K miles. The AC condenser did crap out at 40K but I don't blame that on the diesel engine. It was quickly repaired with the extended warranty I bought. To me it's very worth it. I don't even know out travel trailer is back there when towing not to mention I just like the sound of the engine.
