After picking up Macintyres troubled TC Hawkins, I gave my boys the choice of who was getting the TC and my old CVA. The catch being that whichever one you choose, you will have to fix.

My oldest (13yo) claimed my old CVA Hawkin. This rifle was a Christmas present from my parents to me when I was 14. It has seen a lot of abuse and neglect from me over the years.

My son came out to the shop today and wanted to start work on it. So we had to unload it. It's been loaded for a while. We went out back and it fired with the first cap. He had the biggest grin when it fired. He had to shoot it a few more times before he was ready to get dirty.

The gun is in good shape. It needed the clean out screww drilled out of the drum and replaced. It also needs to have the pits taken out of the barrel and reblued.

I showed him how to set it up for drilling the screw out of the drum and we did that. We will have to retread the drum and make a new screw. Then we went on to getting the pits out.

Here he is draw filing and sanding the barrel.

Never mind the mess, my shop is too small for all my hobbies.
